I've known for months(I work presently for two different Sanitaire dealers) and have been watching to see if anyone would post about it, but as no one has I decided to make the announcement. |

Is the United States Aerus Electrolux truly owned by Electrolux AB of Sweden now? I thought the US Aerus was its own company. |

I looked at 3 or 4 different sites and sanitaire backpack vacuums are still available. I want to say there red. I think Bissell wants to own the blue color.
The proteam backpacks are better(ratings and almost every site). I have a royal backpack vacuum. I noticed royal backpack vacuum is now Hoover's backpack. I have seen and used a Hoover backpack vacuum with 2 20 volt batteries. I wasn't impressed but it's only commercial cordless I've tried. Les |

Dirt cups that's a plastic dump bin with a bag attached. I think you call it plastic crap.
I'm jk I used my sanitaire a few times recently. I looked at the bag and its thick and quite large. The sanitaire brand you get 6-$20. I may look into alternative manufacturers. It takes a little getting used to the bearer bar sound. It deep cleans excellent and it's pretty light I'm guessing 15lbs. I also have the adapter to use a hose. It's good for furniture and stairs. My eureka imperial and my sanitaire is667a are both 7 amps. The ST setup filters really well. The f&g is hard to tell because bags have so much paper tubing.
The belts on my sanitaire broke all the time with eureka belts. I put sanitizer belts on it and it's wore but it hasn't broke yet. Turning off machine for height adjustment I think helps slot. I want to get the sanitaire power flite in blue with aluminum hood. I like the blue sanitaire bag. The sanitaire has power switch on the handle. The attachment for a hose it's pretty good. If the brush roll pulls about 140 CFM I'm guessing the six foot hose is pulling 75 CFM. There also really life. Les |

Hi Mike,
The VG One was Eureka's first brush roll with beater bars. It came out around 1970, I think. It is an aluminum brush roll in the shape of a helix which allows more air flow in the brush roll chamber (it's not a solid cylinder like most brush rolls). Imagine a foot-long bar of aluminum that is twisted like a piece of pasta. The VG I has two solid aluminum beater bars - separated by the belt groove. It also has two replaceable brush strips separated by the belt groove. It is a very effective brush roll which gave Eureka its first top performance marks by Consumer Reports in 1973. A few years later, Eureka introduced the VG Two. This also had two replaceable brush strips, but the beater bars were actually broken up into seven mini "fins" which were positioned on the brush roll so that they created a kind of "wave" motion as it hit the carpet nap. Eureka liked to advertise that this brush roll had seven beater bars. The VG II was a solid stainless steel cylinder - not a twisted helix form like the VG One. The VG Three was Eureka's response to Hoover's new Quadraflex agitator in the 1980's. They both got rid of the metal beater bars and instead featured four bars of bristles set into plastic stiffeners which supposedly gave the brushes more "flinging" action. I always felt that a row of good stiff bristles would provide the same beating action as a solid metal bar. This VG Three was also a solid stainless steel cylinder. |

Mike.... yes, Eureka recycled the brandname "Roto-Matic" which was first used for their "swivel-top" tub canister cleaners in the 1950's. Those tub vacs were discontinued by the mid 1960's and so the brandname was re-used for the company's first power nozzles in the 1970's. The first Roto-Matic power nozzles did not have a Vibra-Groomer brush roll. They had a basic wooden "Disturbulator" brush roll with non-replaceable bristles and two red plastic beater bars. Nothing fancy, but performed quite well in removing deeply embedded dirt.
If I remember correctly, the later versions of Eureka power nozzles had VG Twos, and the sleek Express power nozzle of the 1980's featured the Vibra Groomer Three. |
