I wandered thru the Goodwill the other day and found this Kenmore Model 19C for $7

It's early 30's, made by Birtman, well taken care of, original bag, the original cloth cord, runs great.

That is a real nice vacuum. I wish it was in a nearby store. I really like the birtmans of that era.
Is brush roll original. I don't own one and never seen one in person.

We see so few because not a lot were sold. It was made during the depth of the Great Depression, when no one had any money. People were literally starving. It's awesome to find one with the original bag. Great find.

Wow! I never see anything like that at thrift stores around here; in fact, I rarely see anything older than 1990s plasticrap.

Don't you wonder about its life before it ended up there?? (To have lasted THIS long) I also wonder about these cleaners.

Kenmore Upright

Thanks for sharing the pictures. That is the EXACT machine that was handed down to my parents when they were first married from my mother's grandmother.
That would be my great grandmother. I remember how she told me when I was small, how much she disliked the machine and was so excited when she was able to buy a New Electrolux xxx after the war.
It was then passed down to my parents. Mom also strongly disliked the machine and after I arrived, they bought a new Air-Way 66.
I DO remember it sitting around. It was NEVER used after the Air-Way arrived. I still have the instruction folder and parts list. I remember that bag with Kemmore on the side and the Full line. The name plate was almost a orangish color and the bumper was somewhat flat and more felt like instead of rubber as I remember. Their's also has the same type cord. I never thought I would see another example of the same machine.
