Sad to see you go. :( I know you were only here a short time but you did a lot in your time here.
Have you considered posting your reviews to youtube? Here and YouTube are the only places I know of with a good enough userbase to post vacuum finds and get replies frequently. I wouldn't say reddit because there's more toxicity on that site than here! You could try Flickr as well but that site is nearly dead too, so I don't know with what success that would do. Not sure about FaceBook groups as I do not use it - but maybe that is another option. You can make your own page/group and post all your reviews there and it might get traction. I've noticed an uptick in younger collectors joining this year and late last year that were born in 1998-2004 so that's a good sign that this site itself isn't dying - people are finding it still. I am not sure why stuff doesn't get commented on - I am victim of that scenario myself. I thought maybe it was because I wasn't descriptive enough and leaving out too much details for people to follow along, so I started being more descriptive and then the same thing happened. Maybe people just glance at it, are not interested, and pass over it without being courteous to at least leave a congratulations comment. I know Les does his best to keep things active on topics with no comments or that have gone silent, despite his trouble with writing out what he wants to say, he makes sure to comment on things and keep conversations going. Good luck in your adventures and hope you find a place that works. The internet isn't like it used to be either - the Twitter and Facebook and all that just leads people to think they are anonymous and can say whatever they want and have no consequences - so it leads to hostility. kirbyklekter has a good idea with going to real world mini meets and conventions too. It's not my kind of scene, but I've seen the stories from other members here and their photos that they post and it looks like they have a ton of fun doing it. |

I love the colors on that purple and green Bissell - it's like the 90's all over again. I have that scoop and sweep as a separate boxed attachment, never used it though because it seems kind of a dumb idea. That LED crevice tool however looks really good - I might have to find one as a spare part to use on my main vacuum (that isn't a bissell). I never realized how many features these had on them - you can't really tell from a casual glance as they are all integrated so well.

First of all, I hope you change your mind & decide to stick around a while longer. Even if just as a basic member. I have always read & occasionally commented on your posts, & I must say that you have a great collection. More importantly, your posting style & how you talk to other members in your replies is friendly, admirable & refreshing to see. It's a shame that some people are too negative & turned this into a drama site. Please, stay around, continue posting, & set a mature, positive example for our younger posters. They can't learn good posting behaviour & habits if they don't see people older than them demonstrate those behaviours, right? :-)
As for the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser you just bought, that looks like one really nice upright! I personally wouldn't buy it, but that's only because I am slowly phasing uprights out of my collection & keeping only a select couple, mainly direct air Kirby's & Royals. I have always preferred canisters, & being a renter that needs a vacuum to adapt to different flooring types in different homes, canisters just work better for me. The only bad things are, for the price this should have a Powered Lift Away feature. Both Hoover & Shark already make these models, & for the $400 CDN plus tax this model goes for, I'm sure Bissell will lose a few customers that see the value in the ability for the Hoover & Shark models to convert to a powerhead canister for only slightly more money. Also, why is it that Bissell just can't seem to consistently make sealed HEPA vacuums?! They don't "call" that pleated final filter a HEPA filter, but the fact that Vacuum Wars on YouTube tested it & it failed Chris's filtration tests miserably is a drawback, especially with Hoover & Shark's models being in the same price range with sealed HEPA filtration. One good thing I will say though: The Pet Hair Eraser brushroll system works wonderfully! I can attest to that personally as I have the Pet Hair Eraser handheld turbo brush, & it ranks in my Top 5 best handheld turbo brushes. I have it paired up with a Dyson V6-style to 32mm adapter, so it will fit all my canisters that are 32mm, plus my Miele Callisto if I pair the Dyson adapter with a 35 to 32mm European size tool adapter. There is hardly ANY hair wrap at all....only occasional buildup of hair on the bristles themselves which is easily picked out. And it's one of the few turbo brushes which maintains it's speed consistently & doesn't stall out easily. You might also be interested to know Bissell has a new bagless canister with a powerhead that has the Tangle Free Brushroll. It's a little expensive for a Bissell, at $600 CDN, but for pet owners that want a bagless canister, it might be worth the price. The link below is to Bissell's American website. Interesting machine with unique tools. Glad you like and are enjoying it. May it give you years of vacuuming pleasure! Certainly nice the brush prevents hair wrap. |
