Hi Guys,

Sorry I’ve not been around here for a long time. I just find it frustrating that there is very little activity here and my previous posts didn’t get read or commented on much. I guess everyone is busy or just don’t take much time to visit the contemporary threads.

Anyhow, I will be here another 16 days (then my current membership ends) and I doubt I will renew my membership or post here anymore. So it’s kinda a goodbye to everyone too. I will miss you all and wish you all well and happy vacuum collecting! I’ve purchased many many new and exciting vacuums since my last post before this one, but I figured why bother posting as it appears so dead around here for almost a year. That and my new vacuum shares rarely got more than a few views and even less comments. Again, I’m not complaining as I understand everyone is busy with life, just sad as I love to share and talk Vacuums but this doesn’t seem to be the place for that anymore but rather a place for criticisms, fights about different brands, types of vacuums and personal preferences. That’s something I don’t enjoy as I personally love hearing from everyone about every vacuum and don’t mind if I’m not into that brand or type. But honestly I’ve read some things on here I found upsetting and uncalled for in a vacuum forum. No shade and Not calling anyone out, just stating what I’ve observed sadly.

Regardless, I Love everyone and like I said will miss you guys. Take care and if anyone wants to keep in touch my email is gone2target@hotmail.com and please let me know who you are and your handle here at Vacuum Land so I know who I’m talking with and I’ll get back to you asap with a reply email.

This is one of many Bissell vacuums I own and I just love the anti hair wrap brushroll as I have long hair now. It really works and I have two Bissell now that have the anti hair wrap brushrolls. With my hair personally I find the Bissell work better at preventing my hair from wrapping around the brushroll than my Sharks with Zero M brushrolls.

Ok.. here is my cute, stylish Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus, Model 2281. I also own the original Pet Hair Eraser Model 1650A, the bigger, heavier older brother! (See Pic 9) 😂

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. I have only had this since yesterday, Valentines Day, as it was a gift from my Husband! But I’ve enjoyed using it and found it to be very durable and well built (surprisingly) and it’s performed well and cleaned my carpets extremely well with absolutely None of my long hair wrapping around the brushroll.

Thanks and Enjoy! Patrick

I just got one of those

Two weeks ago. I like the Bissell very much. In fact I would have to call it one of my favorite bagless machines.

The anti hair wrap brush works well, and I especially like the hair spooler which allows the vacuum to be emptied without having to reach up and pull the hair out.

I will say it is one of the best Bissell has built. Some reviewers mention the brush roll bearings dying early, too soon for me to comment on that yet. All in all a very good vacuum, I share your enthusiasm for it. My only wish as a visually impaired guy, is that it had a headlight. The lighted crevice tool is a big help cleaning around the pedestal dining room table. Like I said I with for a good bright headlight for the vacuum itself, as mine is the
1650a and lacks one.

A while back you posted a similar thread and I read it all and felt your pain. I posted a response encouraging you to stay on as a member and give it a chance. I remember Huskyvacs posted a real nice response as did a few others. I then followed up with an email to you asking if you'd read any of the responses, and was disappointed that you hadn't replied to either. Suffice it to say it works both ways. I've seen threads sit for weeks with out a single reply, and a couple times I made a small comment just to get the thread put back at the top, to give it another shot. Both times these posts got at least 5-10 hits. I think sometimes things just slip through the cracks, or the right people just didn't see them the first time. Who knows? I wouldn't take it personally, people get busy and time flies by so fast. I'm seeing a lot of new people writing in and thanking the members for the info, so that's a good sign. Hope you stick around and maybe attend or throw a mimi-meet or go to the conventions, you'll meet some really nice people and make new friends, I promise!

Sad to see you go. :( I know you were only here a short time but you did a lot in your time here.

Have you considered posting your reviews to youtube? Here and YouTube are the only places I know of with a good enough userbase to post vacuum finds and get replies frequently. I wouldn't say reddit because there's more toxicity on that site than here! You could try Flickr as well but that site is nearly dead too, so I don't know with what success that would do.

Not sure about FaceBook groups as I do not use it - but maybe that is another option. You can make your own page/group and post all your reviews there and it might get traction.

I've noticed an uptick in younger collectors joining this year and late last year that were born in 1998-2004 so that's a good sign that this site itself isn't dying - people are finding it still.

I am not sure why stuff doesn't get commented on - I am victim of that scenario myself. I thought maybe it was because I wasn't descriptive enough and leaving out too much details for people to follow along, so I started being more descriptive and then the same thing happened.

Maybe people just glance at it, are not interested, and pass over it without being courteous to at least leave a congratulations comment. I know Les does his best to keep things active on topics with no comments or that have gone silent, despite his trouble with writing out what he wants to say, he makes sure to comment on things and keep conversations going.

Good luck in your adventures and hope you find a place that works. The internet isn't like it used to be either - the Twitter and Facebook and all that just leads people to think they are anonymous and can say whatever they want and have no consequences - so it leads to hostility.

kirbyklekter has a good idea with going to real world mini meets and conventions too. It's not my kind of scene, but I've seen the stories from other members here and their photos that they post and it looks like they have a ton of fun doing it.

I love the colors on that purple and green Bissell - it's like the 90's all over again. I have that scoop and sweep as a separate boxed attachment, never used it though because it seems kind of a dumb idea. That LED crevice tool however looks really good - I might have to find one as a spare part to use on my main vacuum (that isn't a bissell). I never realized how many features these had on them - you can't really tell from a casual glance as they are all integrated so well.

First of all, I hope you change your mind & decide to stick around a while longer. Even if just as a basic member. I have always read & occasionally commented on your posts, & I must say that you have a great collection. More importantly, your posting style & how you talk to other members in your replies is friendly, admirable & refreshing to see. It's a shame that some people are too negative & turned this into a drama site. Please, stay around, continue posting, & set a mature, positive example for our younger posters. They can't learn good posting behaviour & habits if they don't see people older than them demonstrate those behaviours, right? :-)

As for the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser you just bought, that looks like one really nice upright! I personally wouldn't buy it, but that's only because I am slowly phasing uprights out of my collection & keeping only a select couple, mainly direct air Kirby's & Royals. I have always preferred canisters, & being a renter that needs a vacuum to adapt to different flooring types in different homes, canisters just work better for me.

The only bad things are, for the price this should have a Powered Lift Away feature. Both Hoover & Shark already make these models, & for the $400 CDN plus tax this model goes for, I'm sure Bissell will lose a few customers that see the value in the ability for the Hoover & Shark models to convert to a powerhead canister for only slightly more money. Also, why is it that Bissell just can't seem to consistently make sealed HEPA vacuums?! They don't "call" that pleated final filter a HEPA filter, but the fact that Vacuum Wars on YouTube tested it & it failed Chris's filtration tests miserably is a drawback, especially with Hoover & Shark's models being in the same price range with sealed HEPA filtration.

One good thing I will say though: The Pet Hair Eraser brushroll system works wonderfully! I can attest to that personally as I have the Pet Hair Eraser handheld turbo brush, & it ranks in my Top 5 best handheld turbo brushes. I have it paired up with a Dyson V6-style to 32mm adapter, so it will fit all my canisters that are 32mm, plus my Miele Callisto if I pair the Dyson adapter with a 35 to 32mm European size tool adapter. There is hardly ANY hair wrap at all....only occasional buildup of hair on the bristles themselves which is easily picked out. And it's one of the few turbo brushes which maintains it's speed consistently & doesn't stall out easily.

You might also be interested to know Bissell has a new bagless canister with a powerhead that has the Tangle Free Brushroll. It's a little expensive for a Bissell, at $600 CDN, but for pet owners that want a bagless canister, it might be worth the price. The link below is to Bissell's American website.

Interesting machine with unique tools. Glad you like and are enjoying it. May it give you years of vacuuming pleasure! Certainly nice the brush prevents hair wrap.

Hi Bill,

I don’t remember ever saying before I was leaving this site and to be sure, I reviewed all my old posts for a long while back and don’t see what you are talking about that is anything similar to this post. I did in July of 2018 try to get to know others and did mention a bit of distaste and dissatisfaction regarding a lack of comments on my posts.. but I never said I was leaving for good like now.

So regardless, I never ever got an email from you (checking the email addy you have listed on your profile here) and so I’m not sure what happened as I check my junk folder daily for missed email and have since starting my email, which is now about 15 years old. Thank you for thinking of me but I can assure you 100% I did not dismiss you or ignore an email from anyone here... you guys are awesome and I would have happily answered and replied within a day or two. I have received some emails before this post, but again they were negative and not so kind. But I still answered them and was polite in my response and some came back even more hateful and condescending toward me and my collecting.

All that said, I just got tired of the comments about “you must be rich” or comments asking how I get so many vacuums, etc. In general my posts got very little attention beyond a very few people who are always very kind and nice with comments and then negative ones about “I hate shark” or “I hate Bagless” and I could go on but it’s not worth it. I had at one time over 350 vacuums and have added a lot of new ones, and also sold a lot of my older and unwanted vacuums. I don’t think I should be made to feel badly about my Vacuum collection regardless of it’s size. But I was and did get negative and rude comments as well as emails that were very inappropriate and just simply mean spirited, also mean comments made about Roger Lang (ibaisaic) and comments on my friendship with him. So these are a LOT of the reasons I’m not staying around here, but I didn’t until now feel the need to share them with everyone. Those members know who they are and know what they said in emails to me and even comments here. So what’s done is done, I’m out of here.

I wish everyone well and thank you to those who have commented on this post, I will reply to each person on this thread. I like a lot of people on here and deeply, sincerely thank all of those people what made comments or were kind. But as for all the rest and the bickering and ridiculous fighting over brands, etc. I don’t have the time nor want to deal with the negativity anymore. I’m going to be 52 years old in April and as they say.. I’m too Old for this Stuff! 😂

Take care Bill and thanks for your input. I will check my email for any and all messages from Vacuum Land members. All my best to everybody!

Patrick.

Hey Harley,

Thank you for the nice comment and Yes this is a nice vacuum considering it’s price point of $160 (my price as a Platinum Bissell Member).

I wish you had this exact Bissell as it has four lovely and very bright LED headlights in the front for the brushroll. The crevice tool is also LED lighted but this is one of the main reasons I bought this Pet Hair Turbo Plus, is for it’s headlights.

Take care and I hope you enjoy your Bissell too! Thanks for your kind comments over the years too.

Patrick

Hey Huskyvacs!

Thank you for the great advice and kind send off. I agree and wish I had the time and ability to go to some of the in person meetings. I just haven’t found the time with my job, etc.

So I appreciate you and all the other members that have taken the time to comment. I wish you well and if I do find any great new place for us vacuum enthusiasts .. I will definitely come back and let you guys know. I highly doubt such a place exists, but I will keep searching.

Take care and thanks again!

Patrick

Hey David,

Thanks for the comment. Yes, for the price I was surprised how many attachments Bissell included with this Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus. I actually forgot to put one of the attachments in the picture as I’d left it in the other room after using it. It’s a Velcro roller inside a purple housing that when you roll it back and forth the Bissell sucks the hair off the Velcro as you move back and forth. Kind of like the “Fur Get It’ tool from Riccar/Simplicity

Take care and thank you again for your kind comments through the years.

Rob!

Thank you so much for the very kind comment. I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness and it means a lot to me.

Great Minds think alike and I’ve already ordered the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Premium Canister Vacuum, Model 2230 to add to my growing Bissell Collection. I’d ordered this the day before you posted your comment, so that is uncanny and so funny that you’d suggest that when I had ordered it. I’m not a huge canister (or as my UK friends say, Cylider) vacuum fan or collector, but this one really peaked my interest with the floor type sensor. It’s very similar to the Hoover REACT vacuums I own, and when you go from carpet to floor, it adjust the brushroll and suction automatically. I can’t wait to get it and I got a very good deal as I ordered it directly from Bissell and I’m a Platinum VIP member with over 4,200 points.

So thank you for your wonderful comment and genuine kindness. Take care and stay warm up there in Canada. I appreciate you and all the kind members here, so please do keep in touch if you’d like.

Patrick

Hi Jon,

Funny we have the same first name, unless yours is short for Jonathan? My first name is Jon too (without an H) and I go by my middle name Patrick.

Thank you for the nice comment and the well wishes for the use of this lovely new Bissell. This Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus really truly keeps long hair from wrapping around the brushroll 100% effective in my own use and experience. My hair is long enough to reach down more than halfway down my back (see picture) and I’ve never had one single hair wrap around the brushroll on the main vacuum or the Turbo attachment tool. The only other vacuums in my collection are my other Bissell Pet Hair with the same brushroll and a few of my Shark with the Zero M brushrolls.. but even the Shark are not perfect and I’ve had to use scissors and snip a few hairs off those brushrolls before. I found the “trick” with Shark Zero M is to run it back and forth over the floor and carpet, allowing the brushroll system to remove the hair, but Shark themselves even claim hair over a certain length might still wrap. Oh and Oddly enough too NONE of my Dyson Cordless Stick Vacuums, My V8, V10 and V11 have Hair Wrap problems with the brushrolls, even though Dyson has never claimed that feature. Those three are perfect at vacuuming up my Long hairs without any wrap or getting caught in the vacuum. Otherwise, I spend a LOT of time with scissors, sitting on the floor cutting my hairs from most of my collections brushrolls. Oh well, I might be cutting it all off soon so who knows.

Ok, sorry for rambling on and on. Please take care and thank you for your kind words.

Patrick (Jon)

Wow Patrick,

I am sorry that you had to endure all that negative email. I was actually caught off guard on that news. I wouldn't think of a fellow collector as one who would come after another for the amount of cleaners, in this case, or go out of their way to criticize your brand preference. I mean, don't we get side eyed enough from the non collectors of vacuums out there as it is. Who needs the infighting? Nobody is stopping them from getting all the vacuums they want to amass. Well, sad for them that their lives are such that they feel better after raining on others parades. Sorry we couldn't convince you to stay, you;\'re friendly and informative posts will be missed. I hope you find a better fit out there, although I believe there are sour pusses just about everywhere you go these days. Don't let them wear you down Patrick, continue enjoying this hobby, that's what it's all about!Best to you, cheers.
