As you may have seen in the super Bojacked thread, I saw this on shopgoodwill and ended up bidding. Got it in today and a think it is a 513, but not sure as the model is not on the rebuild tag, but it has a later roller, 3 amp motor, early handle, and push switch. The bag assembly, belt lifter, and headlight trim were added by me. Has the original fan for some reason, as everything but the cord was replaced. It actually runs alright. Any info on this would be appreciated, as I want to be sure this is actually a 513. Thanks!

Also, the handle pin has a little textured dot directly in the center.

The green metal rebuilt plates were used by Authorized Kirby Sales & Service distributors to install on machines when we rebuilt them. We had a set of metal punch letters and numbers to filll in the information on the tag, this one obviously wasn't filed in. |

Well, I looked at the tag more closely and it is a 4 amp! I just got fooled by the higher pitch, the bearings have a little bit of noise. It adds a slightly high pitch to it while running. I was kind of on the fence before, but it is definitely a 513 with the 4 amp motor and early handle. Thanks for your help!

Idk why nobody is chiming in. 2 or 3 years ago I got a hoarders stache of vacuums. Long story short the green rebuild plate is not affiliated with any Kirby rebuild or authorized dealers. A007kirbyman or bill made me aware of this. They were put on in 1980s by fake dealers.
The Kirby's are red and silver/white. I have one from 1961 on my 505. The green place just certifies the Bojack. It's still a 500 series Kirby. Les |

It was Nationwide. If I remember correctly it's October/November of 2016.
I bought a bunch of vacs from a lady whose dad collected Kirby's. I got 508, 519 515 bag 6d50s 2 d80s a classic 3, heritage. 2 eurekas from the 50s. I had a green plate exactly like that on 516-d80 motor housing. Bill sedman a007kirby guy posted on the thread about it. I talked to him on the phone and it's like the one part all bojackers used. I looked through the archives but I can't find it. The good news is the 508 I still have. I think keeping the d50s selling the bag I made $1000 on $80 purchase. I remember it well. I scraped the housing . The green plate doesn't have model number or any info. It's just a metal plate. Les |

Bill sedman?? Les, just take a minute to proofread your posts. You are way off on Bill’s last name. Sometimes I have issues myself. However I do proof read my posts to make sure that they make sense. I’m not trying to be nasty. It would be a great help to proofread. So I can decipher what you are saying. Thank you and happy posting!

"...the green rebuild plate is not affiliated with any Kirby rebuild or authorized dealers..." "...bill made me aware of this..." Hello Les (& others). I don't know who told you that (made you aware); however, it was not me. I remember talking about the 'green' rebuild tag(s). The green rebuild tag is not & was not done by the Kirby "Factory Rebuild Dept.," they did use 'red' ones. Charlie was/is correct as he stated above. Kirby "Factory Authorized Service Centers" were allowed to (& did) use the 'green' rebuilt tag(s). When we spoke, I even told you that I have several brand new, unused tags myself. Now that all being said, does NOT mean that some "authorized" service places didn't do "unauthorized" things, when 'they' serviced Kirbys. (ie: after-market, non-genuine parts, etc.) Many aluminum components could very easily be interchanged between models themselves. The same could be done with many of the 'other' components on each Kirby. Sadly, some did this with Kirbys & then sold them as 'current' new models. Even though these 'parts' may be genuine Kirby parts, they could be considered 'bojacked' by some, as they are not the same as was original to the model. As I've posted previously, this is one reason it is sometimes tricky to make a determination as to a 'part being original to that model' without much accurate research & documentation. Just because something is said or printed, (ie: google, wiki, vacuumland, etc.) does not necessarily make it fact!!! (This is in spite of the 'fact' that we all know that there are no lies in print or verbally on the internet.) ~lmao~ (SEE BELOW) I hope this helps. Cheers & hagd all, Bill |

I recently purchased a few vacuum parts ordering catalogs. The Henry vacuum company was recipient of these magazines.
The magazines have Kirby f&g bag conversions and basically every descent quality part people call Bojack in the catalog. The parts aren't manufacturered by Kirby. I have a couple magazines stating they are/were Kirby authorized dealer and or service center. If you notice there never was a sweet Aire plug in green. There also was never a green pistol grip handle. I don't know (obviously) Bojack scene/severity. I am noticing that non OEM Kirby parts were plentiful to supply them with non OEM parts. The plate I am talking about is in this thread. Bill in your professional opinion is it real or Bojack? It's picture #5. I proofread this post in case any non contributing members are reading this. Hello Les (& others).
The Kirby "Factory Authorized Service Centers" were allowed to (& did) use the 'green' rebuilt tag(s) that were worded as follows: "Kirby Rebuilt By An Authorized Kirby Service Center" An example of this is shown in the OP's (Kieran) photos (#1 of 5). The green rebuilt tag as shown in your (Les) photo(s), (#5 of 5) in reply #14, is NOT a "Kirby Company or Authorized Kirby Service Center Rebuild!!!" It rather IS a bojack tag!!! "... I have a couple magazines stating they are/were Kirby authorized dealer and or service center..." ***** I would love to see documentation (photos, pdfs, etc.) of this, if you have it??? In my conversation(s) with Steve, (The Henry Company), he told me the company started originally as a Filter Queen dealer, & then over the years they started the repairing of 'other' brands of vacuums. Some were as authorized repair centers, some not. By the way, Steve is a great guy to talk & deal with (imho), if you haven't yet dealt with him. "...there never was a sweet Aire plug in green..." If you L@@K again Les, as shown in your photo(s), (#3 of 5) in reply #14, there IS a "sweet Aire plug in green" as well as other parts in green as well as other colors. They ARE however bojack parts!!! Now that all being said, "authorized OR unauthorized" in ANY business, can & does have scam artists, as well as HONEST, ETHICAL business owners!!! Hopefully all of us are able to deal with the latter, the majority of the time!!! I hope this information is helpful to you (Les) & others. Cheers & hagd all, Bill |
