In the US, those are obsolete Eureka uprights. We haven't had that design for a number of years. Most of them have been discarded as the filter clogged quickly and people threw them away.

Neither have we. That design is easily 15 years old, if not more. Long since gone, as has the Electrolux brand in the U.K.

The filter has to be washed after each use. Replaced yearly. The HEPA filter for the motor does not have to be, and must be replaced every year.

The Eureka Altima (Electrolux Velocity) is so "rare" because they were so poorly designed that people just threw them away after a year or two. I recently got a Eureka Altima for free from a vac shop, and it is a truly awful dust spewing contraption. The one I got blew dust out for a full minute after I turned it on. Also, why did you create a new thread? You already created a thread about the Electrolux Velocity, so why did you make another one? This should have been posted in your other thread.

Funny - mine has been fully restored and does not leak dust at all. Please understand that when you get vacuums for free - they need a lot of repair work. You cannot just turn them on and use them. Make sure both filters are clean and in good condition and there are no broken parts around the filter housings and no tears in the hoses. If the person has run it without a filter, there will be dirt and junk inside the vacuum housing.

Also this vacuum exhausts downward and upward depending on handle orentation, so the dust you see is coming from your carpet and furniture. Every time I get a vacuum - unless its brand new out of the box, all the filters get changed and replaced. You never know about its past life or what the owner did to it - and smells can linger in the filter especially with vacuums that use a foam filter.

This one had all of the filters. It's just an awful vacuum. The two star average rating on Best Buy's website confirms this.

Oh right. But they look nice. Also thanks for commenting guys. Did they make many Electrolux Velocitys?

I can't speak for the Electrolux Velocity, but the Eureka Altima was fairly popular for a short time here in the USA. It became less popular when people found out how bad it was.

I have owned two Altimas. The first one was red and it was a trash pick. I hated it so much that I threw it back into the trash. I now have a yellow one that will be going to a buddy of mine who likes Eureka. As for my YouTube channel, I just renamed it to LuxDude2003 Vacuums. I'll leave a link to it.

And also I've notest that some Electrolux Velocitys have rectangle switches and some have round switches. I think thats the same with the Eureka Altima.

I don't know what else you also had under the Electrolux brand but here in the americas we also had the Eureka Contour line which are basically the bagged versions of the bagless Altimas.
