All this talk about Electroluxes leads me to wonder - does anybody have or has anybody seen an Electrolux XXX with a port for a powernozzle pigtail? I know Metropolitan refurbished and sold model XXX's well into the '70's so it's reasonable to think that some vac shop or Metropolitan may have modified one to use a powernozzle.

Yes, I have made many. I took a power nozzle receptacle from a Hoover Celebrity and took the right side name plate bumper off the model 30 Electrolux. I Dremeled the bottom about an inch from the front, slid the receptacle in, hot glued the wire inside the bumper along the top so it wouldn't be visible from the ELECTROUX name, drilled a hole in the rear by the motor compartment, soldered the wires to the 2 motor leads going into the switch and you have a model 30 with a power nozzle.

I've never seen an XXX with a PN port but I have seen an LX. It was installed in the front-most left side of the decorative metal trim.

Electrolux salesmen would put a power nozzle receptacle on anything to sell a power nozzle. I remember a lady who lived on our street with a General Electric swivel top they added a power nozzle receptacle to, and sold her a PN-4 with the adapter for her GE wands. The receptacle came out one of the exhaust slits. When the hose swiveled too far, it yanked the cord out of the receptacle. She cussed that thing all the time. I sold her a new Rainbow in 1979 with a proper power nozzle. Why she didn't buy the Electrolux when she bought the power nozzle from the salesman is anyone's guess.

Wow, I had no idea they went to such great lengths to sell Electrolux powernozzles. Even a model L if a lady like that was so frugal would've been a better choice. At the vacuum shop where I work we used to rebuild Filter Queens with the power nozzle cord zip tied to the outside of the hose. Needless to say it wasn't pretty.

I have my Grandmother’s XXX and have considered adding a power nozzle outlet to it. I took the cord cover and outlet off an old bronze Model G that died many years ago and still have the parts 8ncluding the outlet and wiring, wire cover, outlet box and have considered installing it on the XXX in precisely the same configuration it was located on on the model G so the outlet would be located at the bottom of the front left of the machine. I haven’t done it yet, but this is the intention.

I have used my XXX with a power nozzle though in the following way with NO modifications ....I use a power cord from an old mixer or radio...you know, the type that has the female two round prong end on it and the standard Wall outlet plug on the other end, then add an extension cord and plug this right into the wall straight from the power nozzle. Yes it just stays on until I unplug it or switch off the power nozzle itself if using an L shaped one with a switch on it. And then there’s the annoying extra cord to deal with but yes, I can use my XXX with a power nozzle this way without modifying the machine. I learned about using the mixer/radio cord from an Electrolux repair man. I went in back with him to his workbench once when we had to had our powernozzle fixed and he had a cord there set up so he could test run power nozzles he would work on.

I would like to add wheels to my XXX personally. I have hardwoods throughout my house mostly and don’t like to drag the metsil rails on the floor so I don’t use the XXX as a result.

"--add wheels to my XXX--"

There were many aftermarket parts at vac stores to update different models including a wire frame for Mo XXX to sit on that had 2 wheels in back and swivel wheel in front. Many upright users would replace shake out cloth bag with a bag unit with zipper and paper bags.

The Perfect Power Nozzle

dysonman1's profile picture
For old cleaners without power nozzle outlets. The Perfect Power Nozzle runs for over an hour on a charge. The battery adds weight which pushes the brush even deeper into the rug for a better clean. And I can use it with the oldest canisters. Here it is with my 1940 Rexair model B as well as many other cleaners. It really is Perfect. The Models XXX and LX work so well with the battery Perfect nozzle, there's no reason to modify a vintage canister/tank cleaner.

now known as the "club Lux". It has traveled around the country. It is supposed to come to my home for a year. I hope it will be here on display during the 2021 convention which will be held in Scranton, PA.
My late aunt always had Electrolux.
I'm offering the gold, anniversary floor polisher/shampooer.

Depending on how much this Perfect PN costs, I'd like to give it a try.

It looks like it’s around $300.00 or more from what I’ve seen online.

Holy smoke! Way overpriced! 100-125$ would have been more reasonable.

that would be quite interesting if someone could power a regular PN with an brush cutter battery and a current converter and then share the mods with us...

Has anyone here purchased this Battery Power nozzle? I know it priced twice what it should go for, but I 'd like to know how well it works.

I can sell you the Perfect Battery Power Nozzle for $139.00, the lithium battery is $49.50 and the standard charger $31.50, total would be $220.00 plus NY tax and shipping.

I made a special cord for my Model 30 because I didn't want to hard mod mine. I took an old percolator cord that fit and I added another secondary plug (standard NEMA 1-15 two prong outlet), and then I took an old Kenmore PowerMate nozzle and added a long cord onto the nozzle that would plug into the outlet that I added onto the percolator cord. It was nice because it allowed me to use a power nozzle with the Model 30, but it would also allow me to keep the vacuum original. I don't have a pic of the setup, but I did draw a crude diagram of what it looked like.

Vacman1961 Your price of $220.00 is not bad. I will consider it and let you know if I want to buy it.

Crazykirbydude, I don't blame you for not wanting to modify your 30. I wouldn't either. I have both the the 30 (XXX) and the LX and currently use a Turbo Nozzle.
