I've just noticed that both of the only two Oreck stores in my area have closed, and their website has also changed.

They are now known as "Vacuums Etc". Is anybody else noticing store closures in their area? Is Oreck possibly shifting to online sales? It does concern me since they fairly recently started selling the Riccar brand, and Riccar isn't sold online..

Anybody with any info, feel free to comment

They're now called "Vacuums 360". They've also started carrying other brands as well but are still Oreck dealers.

Mine are gone

I was just thinking this to myself last week!!!! The store in my town closed about 3 years back. All of the stores in the New Orleans area closed recently and I think the only one we have left is an hour away and I need to get there ASAP cause I broke my handle.

What used to be my Oreck stores in the Pittsburgh suburbs have become Vacuums Etc. Curious, last May, I walked into my suburban store--the Oreck sign, mind you, was still over the store front--and not one Oreck vac was there. Instead, the store was displaying all manner of Riccar uprights and canisters and Miele canisters. The owner (manager) told me they were transitioning to the new store, and he hadn't yet got to changing the sign out front. However, he told me they were still servicing any Oreck vacuum that is brought in. He offered me a tremendous trade-in on my Oreck Forever Gold, and we applied it to a new Riccar, which I really like. I still have my Oreck XL21 which I will not give up. That one is a keeper.

I have at least four XL-21's. Since the Oreck stores are practically all but gone I wonder if TTI will still honor the 21 year warranty on them? Also, can you bring them to a vac shop that sells Oreck for free tune-ups?

No cause for alarm. Most store's have just gone multi-line. Essco is now the exclusive distributor of oreck. My understanding is nothing has changed with their warranties adjust the margins of which they are being wholesaled.

The Oreck Outlet Store in Cookeville closed last year but the one in Knoxville Turkey Creek is still open and is an Oreck store as of last month when I drove by.

The one near me is still an Oreck store, but they now carry Miele and Tacony products as well. They seem to talk down Oreck, they really aren't interested in selling them anymore. Miele makes superior machines so that is reasonable.

Oreck products have their niche. But with more homes moving to hard flooring it makes sense to just buy a canister. The Oreck Pod looks like an interesting Dyson competitor, it is a little pricey for me to justify buying one though.
