That is rough. Has some good parts though. I wonder if there is more to it back there.

I've seen the occasional refrigerator, stove, washer, dryer and small appliance in the woods -- all presumably too far gone to save but have never run into a vacuum cleaner. I did find a rusty five-blade industrial fan blade that's almost 48 inches in diameter on the side of a remote logging road once. It's hanging on the wall of my study.

I did find an IBM PS/2 computer deep in the woods when hiking one time. It was miles from any road so I'm not sure how it got there and why. It was complete -- all the components were inside but was mossy, corroded and a little rusty. It was too far gone to save.

It's remarkably solid for being outdoors since the Kennedy administration. Hit it with a stiff brush and some soap and water and that's all it needs, then rebuild. I'd be game for that if you aren't doing anything with it, I love tinkering with lost artifacts like this

As Dr. McCoy would say on Star Trek—"It's dead, Jim".

There is a Hoover 704 motor with metal fan on ebay. It would probably fit this. It might be salvageable if lots of time and money are put into it. The only hard parts to find would be the bag, hood, and possibly the handle. I know the model 65 has the same handle. I just hope the metal casting isn't broken.

hoover convertible motors (704 motor you mention) or any parts are completely incompatible with a 62-64 hoover. nothing is the same. the motor was bigger, fan had 2 more blades and handle bail, bag design were completely different. the 62-64 also only had a single speed motor, not two. the only parts that could be compatible from a convertible, IF it was a model 65-68 only, is the switch and cord. maybe the headlight bulb. nothing else

this is so trashed and rusted this is unsalvagable, and this is coming from someone who has restored NASTY machines. you might be able to save the wheels and handle spring. everything is so lost its not worth it. except maybe as a planter.

Ok

Although when I said handle I meant the one piece handle part that slides into the handle bail. I believe the early model 65 was the last to have the one piece version. I have to admit, having it as a planter would be pretty cool.
