I have converted a craftsman cordless vacuum to corded by using a bridge rectifier and a 12 volt ac transformer so it can run on 120 volts

Very interesting idea. I've used car adaptor vacuums. They have small opening and under powered.
I imagine this conversion would make for much better performance. How well does it work. Does it clog easy. How much does it hold. Very creative I put a longer cord on a radar detector for my Toyota. I imagine you could cut off ac adapter and solder a plug in on it. I doubt it would work because of the size of wires. Les | ||

Eyy, that's pretty good! I'm wondering if there's some sort of readily available high-current 12v switch mode power supply... to maybe take a couple ounces off the extra weight of a full size transformer.
Part of me wants to say that you should put a single diode across the motor to absorb inductive kickback, or whatever it's called, but I don't really know for sure if it's needed. It'd probably be over-engineering for something like this. | ||
