Does anyone know if there is a longer aftermarket hose for the Kenmore Elite 31150 pet friendly? If not, what would be another good tandem air vacuum? Is there anything that can compare with the Riccar R40? Or is the R40 in a class of its own? Thanks!

Tandem air?

That Kenmore isn't a tandem air machine. It's dual motor but there's only one suction motor the other motor runs the brushroll. A tandem air machine has two suction motors.

To get back to your question I don't think there was a longer hose made for those. There may be a detachable extension hose that would work with it though.

As someone who owns the Simplicity equivalent (S40P) I feel performance wise that they are a top tier machine in terms of carpet cleaning. I think the only machines that perform at the same level or higher would a direct air machines (no on board tools) like Kirby, Sanitaire (some models) or Royal (metal). I do feel that their quality control has gone downhill but that's just a feeling. It is a little heavier than what you're currently using. The onboard hose though has a very good reach to it.

Probably a Kenmore Progressive upright extension hose or a Panasonic upright hose might fit. They used to offer extension hoses with the older uprights but for some reason don't seem to with the newer models.

These should work, if you have that end with the little button that fits in the j slots:

Kenmore

I have a Kenmore elite 12 amp upright.
I'm going to guess CFM is 120. There is no tandem air pulling that high of cfms.
I however don't like the brush roll or it's pick up.
It has a lot of power is sealed and if brush roll was better it's every bit as good as tandem air.
I however am selling Kenmore and waiting for money for a good and a belt for my Riccar radiance. It's a beast of a machine. My simplicity Symetry is really good, Riccar 8955 I love as well.
I don't own any other kenmores. I'm not biased

Thank You

Thanks for your help fan-of-fans. That’s exactly what I’m looking for!

Thanks for the clarification Blackheart. I have hard woods with one area rug. The area rug is high density. I buried some flour in the fibers. It did a decent job, but there was still some flour in the fibers. So, I’m thinking over whether to upgrade or get the hose extension for the Kenmore. How good is the filtration with the direct air motor? I’m an allergy sufferer.

I don't know why but I guess I've never posted this to VL I did find it on a facebook group. I didn't have the machine for long but I did want to test it. Chris, from vacuum wars, also tested this unit getting 120 hose cfm and 83 nozzle CFM

The highest I've gotten from my S40P at the nozzle was 99 cfm Chris got 76 CFM. I will say though the 3 row brushroll spins at a higher speed so there's definitely more agitation to it and while I cannot confirm this I recall the kenmore having a large nozzle opening which would lead to less concentration of the flow it does have.

In regards to filtration the cleaning exhaust of the direct air motor is fed into the bag chamber, through the clean air motor and then through the hepa filter. There is the carbon dust produced by the direct air but there's an electrostatic filter on the housing (included in every filter pack) there to capture that, not that it's a huge amount anyways.

Knowing your situation though I don't think it's worthwhile to spend 1300+, or whatever they run these days, on a premium machine for one rug.

Hey
The Titan 8000 or newer Kenmore cannister are 2 very good vacuums that have great filtration. Green Kenmore cannister and Riccar 1500p would be $150 or less options. I believe there basically the same machine. The Riccar 1500p I just sold had a 5 filter system. It also had l a wessell werk (I could be wrong but it's very similar to my wbk360). It lets you increase or decrease airflow. It has bare floor tools too. It would be a vacuum you could use everywhere.
