Out of curiosity I took a look at the main Sebo web site in Germany
sebo.de
and surprisingly they had an English version of the site as well, I was a bit surprised about that since they are in Germany. Anyway, it mentioned the different distributors around the world such as Sebo America, Sebo Australia, etc. It mentioned that these were separate companies and not a part of the main Sebo company in Germany and that brings me to my question. I'm using Sebo as an example but I guess this would apply to other European companies such as Miele, Lindhaus and Numatic as well. Is it the main companies in Europe who choose to start these other companies, or does someone completely independant from them decide they want to start those distribution companies in a particular country and then contracts with the main company in Europe to make the vacuums for that particular country? Also, again using Sebo America as the example, I'm assuming they communicate with the folks in Germany at times, wouldn't there be a language barrier? Unless some of the folks here know German or the people at Sebo's main headquarters in Germany know some English? Hope my question makes sense.
Mike

I'm guessing but I'm not far off. Sebo is a German country. It's one of a few things.
The people who own sebo own sebo America. I could explain but it happens.
The other is like royal and Stark vacuum.
Royal has Stark produce royals and sale them. The difference would be keep sebo name.

The way to think of it is SEBO Germany is the top of the Christmas tree and everything is below it as other entities of the same tree.

You have to keep in mind you usually have to establish a new company and business license per country.
The other advantage of doing this so is there able to tailor things to different markets.
The head of SEBO Germany give input sebo USA what doesn't fully run SEBO USA.

last year at VDTA I got to meet the head of SEBO Germany which is still run by the original family.

Miele &Lindhaus work the same way.

Hope that answers your question?

what about communication

That's interesting that you got to meet the head of Sebo Germany, was communication a problem? Do you know some German or did they know some English?

@n0oxy He spoke good English.

Most folks in Europe usually know a second language, lot of times 3 or 4 different languages.

Deutsche sprechen gut Englisch. Die meisten Europäer sprechen sehr gut Englisch.
That means Germans speak good English. Most Europeans speak good English.
My friend is over Western United States foreign exchange student placement. I have met people from all over and they all speak very good English.
Germans are very well mannered and kind.
My 2 cents fwiw.
