If I have a new years resolution it is this--MY OLD VAC SHOP LOCATION WILL BE EMPTY AND SOLD DURING 2020!
To briefly review,I have had a life long interest in and growing collection of vacuum cleaners since I vacuumed my grandmothers house with her red, black & chrome Royal tank at age 3 and rescued a 2 motor AirWay from my aunts trash cans at 6.I have worked for Electrolux, bought an existing vac store, gotten vacs from customer trades,DTD dealers, estate sales & other and have visited old vac shops for vintage items until I may have the old vac store you want to visit!I am now in a new location continuing vac sales/service/supplies but also a book store with 1000s of used and rare books.2020 will be the year to spend more time at the old location until empty.
I have Apex,AirWay,Hoover Z and MUCH in between. Please do not keep this a secret and tell your collector friends and internet groups that I do not have time to search for.
If you or someone in your area can make the easy drive to east TN you can pick and choose a truck load.If it is not convenient to travel I can take items the first half mile to UPS or a mile further to USPS.
MANY items can be $0 to $20.Some will be more due to rarity, condition, completeness and typical current values.
Some vacs will be kept for a MUCH smaller collection.
I am starting to sort by make and model. There will be a lot of brands such as Hoover,Kirby,GE,Electrolux and others. With some that I hope to start with such as Bissell,Viking,Regina,Vorwerk and more there will be fewer. There are also some parts, bags and filters both older and newer.
I hope to have lots of pictures and welcome questions, comments, requests, phone calls at 423-268-4841 and visits.
Jimmy

After starting by nearly having-

-a Jack Nicholson wheat toast kind of day at McDonalds I was downstairs in a storage area at the old store until dark.As I have had little time there since moving to the new location it was somewhat like going back into King Tut's tomb.I found-many Rexair/Rainbow accessories including at least 2 'Kaiser'hoses, more Elux tank than I expected there, more GE Swivel Top,more Kirby accs including Miracle Waxer, dealer poster/banners for DDevil,Eureka,Hoover, etc and started on old non Hoover uprights(some Westinghouse & Western Electric)at other side of room. Also gathering 2 brush polishers that need to go SOON.
Les,
Royal old UR & hand vac-Yes!(still finding & sorting)
20s,30s Premier-yes " " "
Royal tanks-yes,but very few
ABC nozzle-NEVER had,have only seen 1!
vac related books-a few duplicates such as Don Aslet/Eureka book, home ec type books, etc.
Retrovac-Never had or seen and one of very few I would want!

Kelton-Royal accs/atts include a few from 70s & newer.FQ accs include clear demo dirt container.Kirby accs/atts-almost none before 1950,some 50s,some more 60s,MUCH 70s,MUCH Heritage & Generation(but often difficult to complete a Legend att set).
Les-Interstate atts will probably match up with dozen or more Compacts upstairs(some very good, some for parts).
Payton-Elite/Bravo boxes(& many similar) are just boxes.May or may not have a matching vac.Great for display or will be in dumpster.(I did find something that goes with items you got previously.)BBQ-Great BBQ is now 3 blocks down street but all things considered Ridgewood is well worth the few extra miles.

Hillary,

The Mo 36,both vac and parts, has been one of the hardest to find for me.Am just now trying the find all Convertible bags.Slight chance of 36 bag.
Cameron,
Hoover-To much to list starting with 1920s uprights,tanks,Constellation,Portable,Slimline,Convertible,shampoo/polishers,Dial A Matic,Concept and MORE.
Elites-Original boxes with color pictures showing vac and features(as above),attachment sets and boxes(before onboard)a very few Elites(both good & for parts),various handles and outer bags, etc, etc.
Bissell-Big green(& similar),Little Green(with box)rectangular style carpet cleaner(with box),CM,the RARE SC,older broom type vac,newer broom type,the RARE trio,bags for older broom,possibly ? more.
Most Bissell and Elite need to GO SOON so that others may GO!As I gather various models together I may post Final Warning and then it will be 50feet to dumpster or if metal a short distance to the scrap yard!!

Hi Jimmy,

Hope all is well. I have been looking for a good Reginal canister hose and rug pile dail attachment from the 70s. I believe I saw some Regina canisters in past pics you supplied. Any change you have these things I am looking for?

Thanks for your time.

And I want to be offered anything before the scrap or dumpster if no one else wants them.

Damien,

shag nozzles-I have seen some generic fit all and may have Hoover shag nozzle in its box.Prices starting at $2.
offered-before-scrap or dumpster--All can see and have chance to call me at 423-268-4841.I want a $5 minimum to deal with shipped items and they MUST BE GONE at that time with buyer paying actual shipping fee. With dumpster they are gone in 60 seconds and at scrap yard they pay for metal.

Most vacs in pictures are or could be available.Reginas other than full size canisters need to go SOON.The 4 canisters should be orange(average),2 tone green,yellow/gray,yellow/chrome(these 3 more deluxe and NICE).Most with matching hoses, many atts. But before them I need MUCH gone at old store.Should also be 1 hand vac based on Regina broom.

Your store sounds like a treasure trove. It sounds like you'd be good with an auctioneer who could take pictures of everything and list them.

Might be quicker and require less energy on your part.

Post# 418724 , Reply# 30   1/17/2020 at 08:37 (1,532 days old) by rugsucker (Elizabethton TN)
gregvacs,

"--auctioneer--"---If this was rare & valuable pottery that recently filled a local auction house with high bidders or a house next to the golf course with a mix of furniture, antiques, art, clothes, kitchen items, china, tools, vintage toys, etc that draws large crowds almost every week in our region it would be simpler. But this is vacuums. Most somewhat rare and collectible from 1920s to modern with a limited amount of collectors scattered over the country.I would welcome a fast fingered EBay seller with good feedback.I again ask that those here do not keep this a secret.I am beginning to search for groups of Kirby,Hoover and other collectors. But I still have to sort items and match, hoses, attachments, parts, bags & literature when available.I welcome any suggestions and look forward to the 2 collectors that are planning trips.
GE1969,
"--lime green and taupe--"---I have counted as many as 14 color combinations among my Constellations but have never found lime green.Do have several Slimline(maybe green) and many Portables with even more pretty colors.

Thanks for the reply on the Regina canisters. I am pretty sure I bought some really nice things from you in the past when the lady who's name escapes me was listing items for you on eBay. She was very nice and it was a pleasure doing business with her.

I understand you need to empty the old spot out as a priority. I would be interested in the deluxe models in the future.

Take care Jimmy!

I have those and many more original hoses to match various Elux.I would not expect them to be air tight but would be good for display to complete an original att set or to attempt repair of inner lining OR most will go in dumpster SOON.

Hi, Jimmy.

Do you wish to keep the bags with the units, are are you willing to part with the original bags alone? Specifically the 511, 517, 560, D50 ones? And how much would you want, if you were willing to part with them :)

I'll call tommorow touch base again. The royal sounds great. Bearings are easily fixed.

A singer and Kenmore cannisters.
I have never heard of a wizard it looks like a private label kenmore.
The elite vacuum company vacuum looks like it's from 1910s. I've never heard of that manufacturer before.
Wow

Constellation box--

--I have several original vac boxes. Some can be put back with the vac that matches serial number on box, other will be put with same model to have the vac as complete as possible(hose, attachments, original bag package, owners manual, etc).
Elite--One of my very few OLD vacs.A flea market dealer that was a customer called and said she found a "really old"vac at an estate sale at an old farm house.I asked what it was and she said "Elite".This was when Hoover Elite was in all dept stores and I thought you think this is an old vac!!Then I think it could be a Hoover Convertible Elite from 70s.So that weekend I go to flea mkt an she says that vacuum is on the seat in van.She was right. It WAS "really old"!
Wizard--Is the style introduced by Eureka in early 50s.Later labeled for Western Auto.

Robert,

This is already taking a lot of time from my book store and local vac customers.Pictures so far have not even shown 10% of what is here!!When I can locate items, agree on a reasonable price and shipper(UPS & USPS are close)things can move your way.You and others may want to consider the easy drive. This is a great area to visit for vacation if any have time in the spring.
Douglas UR-Only have 1,should have bags.
Challenger-Probably more that haven't been pictured.Should have most attachments and bags.
Bissell Sweepmaster-Again some both good and for parts have not been shown.Have bags.
JCPenney stick vac-Has problems and should have nozzle. Also other JCP items.
B & D canister-Is spoken for.May have extra power nozzle and misc.We once had a furniture store that sold these in 90s.
Dazey-Only 1.Should be good.(Most here not tested recently.)
Hippo-Also another upstairs, one labeled as Dayton complete in box & bags.
GE/Premier UR w/cordwinder-Probably another downstairs.
Viking/Bissel-Few if any complete Viking vacs but many hoses, atts, etc.Much Bissell(also non electric sweepers)boxes, nozzles, etc.

Do you have a rubber access port plug for a Hoover Z700 (Z400 and Z700 used the same one) in there somewhere and could you ship it? It's so light it would probably only cost $2-$3.

When I bought mine off eBay the seller was trying to be helpful and washed it before selling it and he lost the plug in his yard I guess, I couldn't ask for a refund because when it arrived, UPS busted the handle and I had to get a partial refund.

I'm new to collecting vacuums so the list seems very common but I hope you have some of these still in boxes near mint.

The list:
Hoover Constellation
Electrolux LX
General Electric V13C3
Hoover 575
Hoover 28

I forgot to mention that I'm not picky when it comes to condition or completeness. As long as the motor runs and it is functional or can be made functional with minor repairs, I'm happy. I don't mind aftermarket hoses, bags, cords, etc.

If it's not too much trouble, would you mind taking pics of some of the machines I've mentioned? There's a collector in Indiana selling some vacs too and I'm trying to decide if I want to go to Tennessee or Indiana. You have some really cool stuff, but the other guy has some cool stuff too. I would like to make sure that you'll have what I'm looking for? I really want a Kirby DS80, Kirby G3, coffee can Hoover, F&G Eureka, Royal metal upright, Electrolux AE, AF, R, S, G, or L, and a style U Electrolux upright. These are vacs that I've been looking for and I'd like to find at least 3 of them. I would like to have a Compact with PN, BOL Hoover Elite, Eureka Roto-Matic, and another Electrolux Model XXX, but I won't be heartbroken if you don't have those. I'm not picky on completeness or condition.

Jimmy,

I’m looking for an Electrolux pigtail electric hose to use with my model G in the newer rubber. Also a tool caddy for an Electrolux XXX as my Grandmother never bought that but I’d like to have one for it now as I use attachments a lot...and finally an Electrolux or Aerus wall mount tool caddy usually used for the central systems. I’d pay the purchase and shipping for these of course.

Jimmy,
I was curious if there were any green, maroon, or dark red Kirbys left? I'm a new vacuum guy and I'm not super good on model numbers just yet - but I know what I like! I saw the DS80 - I believe? - in one of your pics and I didn't know Kirby did any colors besides blue, red, and tan!
I'm also super interested in your Eurekas, I love the mid-century Eureka models and wanted to know if you had any green models or bags from the 50's to late 70's?
Any information you or anyone has on these would be wonderful.

Thanks,
Jim
