Isn't that the same Premier that some yahoo was asking our opinion about? The thread isn't that far down. Let's watch the price lower and lower, week after week, until it comes to the price it's worth with that bojack bag - about $50.

Yep, that's the same Premier. If it sells for 450 then I guess mines also worth a small fortune since its all original LOL.

YOUR Premier, all original, actually could be well worth $450. Or even more maybe.

Oh, bless his heart.....

We should all be so lucky to get what we think we're worth on eBay....

Just like that old song "You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, surely you will find, you get what you need".

In the case of the Rexair - someone has been drinking the koolaid.

"yahoo" here!

Hey guys, I'm the yahoo with the Premier 37! That cracked me up, made my day! I was so appreciative of everyone's help that I gave Vacuumland a shout out on ebay. I have several old Hoovers and an old Regina and an early Eureka straight suction upright and I can't tell you how many threads I have read about these vacuums, you guys are the best knowledge out there! And, you all are right, I am shooting for the moon. I know my bag is jenky but the condition is just amazing. So I compared it to the Premier Duplex that sold for $350 in crappy condition and the other 2 the same guy has listed for $300 up against the fact that I can't find Premier 37's ANYWHERE.. which I am sure bvac6 can attest to since he had to resort to using GE A1 parts. Maybe I'll get lucky and maybe I'm a fool. Been selling on ebay for 17 years, wouldn't be the first time LOL I even appreciate you guys putting me in line! Obviously vacuums are new to me. Ask me about vintage and antique fabric.. I sell all over the world on 2 sites! I'm just a girl that gets bored and am enthralled by so many things! You should see me in action at a tool auction with a bunch of guys! The looks of both surprise and disgust, its hard to keep a straight face. ANYWAY I love love love to learn about new things and I refuse to look like a fool on ebay by pretending to know things I don't or by just throwing it out there with no knowledge and being arrogant about it, just trying to make a buck. I love what I do and the people I meet, and even if you guys think I'm crazy I still hope we can all be friends :) We still might need each other some day! (Probably me before you, Lol)

Have a blessed day, everyone, always choose joy!

I'm sorry I called you a 'yahoo'. Vacuum collectors deal with such unrealistic sellers on eBay it's become a common thing. Look at the $19,000.00 Rexair for example. At one time, collectors could actually buy a good number of their collection from eBay without breaking the bank. There are countless threads about sellers trying to fleece collectors by asking the moon for what is in reality an old vacuum. I loving using my Premiers.

No worries!

That’s so nice of you to apologize, it’s really ok, I get it! And I can appreciate the disdain for sellers like me trying to take advantage. In all honesty, I’m just trying to make a living. This has been my job for many years, I’m just not a good clock puncher. I’m also always open to offers and opinions. I try not to offend anyone and at the same time, I have had people low ball me on an insulting level. I try to remember there’s enough meanness in the world and being kind to one another always makes it a better day 😊 on that note, any opinion on the Hoover 700 I also have listed?

Your 700 is drop dead beautiful. And with the original style bag. Gorgeous.

Judging by the condition of Premier and Hoover, I can't wait to see the Eureka!

Post# 418445 , Reply# 13   1/10/2020 at 18:12 (1,566 days old) by Scavenger (Ohio)

The eureka has the original bag, pretty sure, good shape but writing faded. This one also has a great cord but it wouldn’t turn on, made no sound of attempt. The small thin cord from the pole to the head was spliced and taped on one side. My husband who is in maintenance traced the problem to the plug that connects the pole to the base. He took it apart and hard wired the base to another cord and that motor is as strong as the rest of these vacs! This is easily the oldest vac I had so I was thrilled. Just today, vintage 12 gauge wire arrived and the plug is now rewired. Hopefully I can post pictures of this vac come Monday! Another nice clean vacuum.

Today I also learned something about my Hoover 800. I was concerned about the motor because it seemed to rumble a bit and only got worse on the high setting. When my husband got home I brought it into the kitchen to show him and it was just fine when I turned it on. Then the lightbulb went on and I raised the level of the vacuum. Now it works perfectly on the carpet too. Go me

Eureka model 10

hoover300's profile picture
I have the same model. It has the handle that plugs the connections into the fork. Is the bag black with horizontal gold writing? If so, it is the original. If you haven't already, fill the oil wicks with non detergent electric motor oil. It is about the same age as the Hoover 700, 1926 ish. The back wheel, unlike the caster on the model 9, is fixed with a height adjuster knob as well. Here is mine. Still needs to be polished but runs like new.

Eureka bag

Here’s my bag. Also, should there be a brush across the underside of the mouth? Mine does not have one, it’s just open. We are dying over the wooden ball knob on the handle. But we are also people who stripped the doors and hardware and mouldings from an old Victorian railroad hotel slated for demo. I have been installing this in our old farmhouse. Some things are just really cool

It did, but it clipped on. They are almost always gone. There is a eureka model 9 on ebay with the brush.
To find it, type in "vintage vacuum" and scroll down a bit.
With the right kind of paint, a reference, and a steady hand those letters could be repainted.

Gorgeous vacuum

If mine looks half as good as yours when we are done I will be thrilled. Everything you said about mine is true, I can’t believe how quickly you identified it without a photo. I searched for hours to learn anything I could and still didn’t know it was a model 10 or that it was older than I thought. I keep forgetting that Hoover held the patent on the rotating brush during those years so Eureka having straight suction was to be expected. Thank you sincerely for all the info! It would be great if I had a local buddy who could paint the bag. Alas I will give it a good but careful cleaning and just be glad it is original.

Glad I could help. I'm pretty sure the Standard variant was around during the time of the model K as a lower end model, but I could be wrong. The fact that the vac has click connections instead of one long cord leading to the terminals means that it is a bit newer. The one on mine has the same thing, making shipping much easier. Below is my later 10 and my early 10 parts machine with different wiring in the handle.

The later model 10's with the removable handle was for use with an extension cord and small handle and small bag, to make the machine into a 'portable' like other manufacturers were doing at the time.

Very cool

Yes I would be interested in seeing that too. And I figured something out.. model J correlates into model 10, which is the 10th letter of the alphabet. Duh 🙄

Eureka 10 is done!

Working like a dream! If only the bag was nicer and it wasn't missing the brush.. sure cleaned up nice tho I think, thanks Hoover300 for your guidance :) While we used vintage cloth wire, in hindsight, we should have picked up the brass old school connectors, too, nice yellow, right?? And I don't know why the writing on the bag looks pixelated.

NICE!
The yellow kinda matches the vacuum, with the gold writing and all. I'd love to get mine looking that good. Nice job!
