As I'm slowly preparing for The VCCC convention, coming to Scranton in 2021. Although it's not until THEN, I'm getting things ready.
I'm gathering about 50 vacuums (1 Westinghouse, 2 Kirbys, and the rest HOOVER.. never were part of my collection. But, they'll be here: some for sale, some as prizes, etc.
Again, none was ever part of MY COLLECTION. But, things accumulate.
Lots to do for this affair. We're looking at possibly 70 attendees.

I am looking forward to that convention! I know without a doubt the convention will be drama free with no childish competition. After all we are talking about vacuum cleaners that suck dirt from the floor. It just escapes me how something as simple as a vacuum cleaner can explode into something so nasty. In reality people are people and it doesn’t really matter what the subject discussed is about. It’s only the top layer. I have zero tolerance for bullies. Some of us say one thing in public and do something totally opposite behind closed doors and occasionally the side that doesn’t want to be seen bleeds through. I have been bullied by the same group of people myself in a private group. I fail to see how a decent person can follow someone that spreads hate especially when it’s so blatant.

The convention will be great. I just want everyone to have a nice time, make new friends, see old ones, enjoy my area,a nice meal, etc.
I, too, will never be bullied ever again. But, when you consider the source(s), it's nothing.
I feel that, anything they say or do, merely shows them in a bad light, certainly not me.
So, just let them go, embarrass themselves as much as they want.
We cannot be responsible for the ignorance, bad taste or bad manners of anyone.
If you lived closer, I'd offer you a nice beverage, perhaps even a home made cookie... or two!

Helen Keller, herself could see it!

Scranton, the "Electric City" will welcome The VCCC with open arms. I have a few surprises in mind.

And, I'll prepare an info sheet,

listing local museums, UPS station, local thrift stores, and, I'm preparing a visit to a local vac shop. It all should be interesting, indeed.

"I know without a doubt the convention will be drama free with no childish competition. "

We hope the convention goes smooth, for sure. Usually when you get people who collect something so specific, it doesn't matter what it is, you can expect them to have their opinions. Strong opinions at times. The important thing is not to let your own personal emotions mixed into others. Easy to say perhaps, but it's possible.

Would you rather spend time with other fellow collectors or with the average person who may not even know what a vacuum cleaner is much less the differences between them?

Well, certainly, other collectors.

That's where we all get to learn, teach, see, enjoy, service, sell, trade, etc vacuums. We get to see things we only heard about, or have on our own 'wish lists'.
That's why we gather, right?

And, yes. WE all have opinions, to which we are entitled.

Sharing them in a safe, kind, sensible way is what's important.
