Hi all, my name is Jim and I just now joined Vacuumland. I work as a vacuum repair technician in Olympia, Washington, and found my way here after searching something related to one of the repair threads. Some of the advice I've found here has been helpful, some entertaining, and I thought since I've been reading things here for a few months, I should probably participate and offer my own advice where I can.

The shop that I work for is a Miele and Riccar warranty center, so we have a full line of those vacuums. We also carry Sebo and have a few Hoovers, Bissells, and some other common cleaners. That being said, there isn't a make, model or year that I'll turn down, the parts just get harder to find as the machine gets older.

We do take old machines on trade-in so I occassionally have some parts & "vintage" machines available. I'll post if anything really interesting comes in and you can always message me for more info. Typically what comes in on trade are Rainbows, Kenmores from the last 10-20 years, and the occasional Electrolux or Miele canister.

If you want pictures, info, part numbers, or repair advice please don't hesitate to ask. I don't really have a collection myself, but our storefront is quite beautifully packed with brand new machines and I have seen the random post asking for pics (e.g. of the R25, X7, etc.)

Thanks for reading,
Jim

Yes, welcome! This is a good forum. I致e been here ages容ven before I had this account傭ut still nowhere near as long as others here. The site has had ups and, more recently, a down. However, I知 getting the feeling that Vacuumland is moving to a better course again. Negativity seems to be on the decline, support is on the rise, and culture is improving. And I値l bet I知 not the only one who thinks so.

Anywho, welcome again, and I知 looking forward to seeing what you have to share!

BTW, I知 a proud new owner of a Sebo X7, and I must say, it痴 a great vacuum!

Hi there! Nice to have someone who's from the great state of Washington! I used to live up there for a while. I regretted leaving that state but hopefully I'll move back up there when I'm all finished with college. I think they have one of the finest vacuum dealers around the country, I've seen pictures of how clean and organized most of their stores are, and I'm even impressed by the amount of work that they've done on servicing the vacuums. Looking forward to hearing more from you on here!

Welcome Jim. I'm an independent vac shop owner. Always great to have another service person who can add to the information.

@Jim welcome to vacuum land!
It won't be long before you'll be accused of trying to "push Miele" for "evil notorious reasons". But the majority of people on here are awesome enjoy!

Are you going to be VDTA this year ?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. On the bench today we have a Dyson UP13, a Solaire powerhead and a Miele S7 (little bit slow if you ask me). Having trouble finding a new cord for the Solaire-the customer has a round neck wand with a thin top for the hose to connect to, similar to a kenmore wand-everything else should be pretty cut & dry.

I have another S7 (2008 Salsa) that came in as a trade-in. I will likely be parting it out if anyone needs anything. The only thing wrong with it is the brushroll motor, but the cost on the motor is a little too high for me to flip it as a refurbished machine.

@VacuumDevil:
I would love to go to VDTA, but I'm pretty low on the totem pole here and I doubt my boss would spring for airfare/accomodations. Also I tend to push any vacuum that isn't a $100-$200 hunk of junk, if the customer is happy with a Miele then so be it ;D

welcome Jim

Welcome to the site, enjoy hearing about the vacs that you have on the bench. I would love to go to VDTA at some point but I think it's in February and that is our busiest time of year at work so probably will never happen.
Mike
