On my wish list is to find the Sears tan/beige stick vac that my grandparents had in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. I do own a Sears Kwik-Sweep by Regina but that is not it. I have no idea who made it for Sears and I’ve never seen another like it. I have a vague recollection that it had a plastic/rubber loop to store the power cord. I’m hoping someone besides me has seen one, remembers them or has one! Thanks!

Maybe find a Sears catalog with pictures of it.

Thanks, that’s a good idea I had not thought of. I see we were born in the same year!

"--who made it for Sears--"

Probably a hard shell Douglas.

Interesting. I wonder if it was made by Eureka as their stick vacs in the 1960's/70's had a plastic strap to store the power cord. Do you remember if it used disposable dust bags like the Eurekas of the time?

It was a hard shell. It must have used disposable bags. It had a slide switch on handle. I don’t know what a Douglas is. Thanks for your help!

Douglas-

-along with Whirlpool made most of the vintage 50s,60s Sears vacs. They became a division of Scott & Fetzer who even marketed a Doulas canister along with their World Book.Douglas vacs labeled for Sears included hard and soft case hand vacs, full size and compact basic canisters and probably the broom in question.Eureka supplied Montgomery Ward at least from late 40s,then JCPenney and Sears only from about 1990.The Douglas broom was more streamlined than Eureka. Both used rubber cord strap.

Oh my gosh!!!
Rugsucker: that first photo of catalog is it, I think. (Except colors mentioned are Celery Green or Riviera Blue and ours was tan, so probably from different year) Thank you for finding and photographing the catalog!
Collector2: what brand is yours? Looks nice...may I see some more photos of it? Thanks for your help!
Gregvacs: thank you for suggesting a catalog search!
EurekaPrince: I’ve attached photo of my Eureka stick vac. (Purchased new 1996 for mother’s day gift. $55 plus tax/have receipt, vac shop sold it to me with after market horse hair brush) Thank you for your reply!
I really, really appreciate all of you. Now, please advise me in finding one. I’ve never seen one since. I’ve searched SEARS Vacuum on eBay many times...should I try a DOUGLAS search? Should I copy/paste that Sears catalog picture and post “Wanted” in supermarket section? Or?
I remember having it at my first apartment and every time I turned it on it smelled like Grandmothers perfume- TABU. When I find one (or three, one in every color!) for my collection I’ll have to buy a bottle of TABU to spray on paper bag! Attached photo of 3 of my brooms.

Supermarket

I’d like to post this thread in the Supermarket as “wanted”, including the photo of Sears catalog page. I have been unable to find a same/similar photo on google search. Can you please help me and tell me how to do that? Thank you.

"photo"

If you can move my above photo you are welcome to use OR call and I will try to have it sent to you OR if this broom might be in one of my smaller Sears sale catalogs I might find better or color picture.

Kenmore broom

Looked at a few more Sears catalogs last night but didn't find better pictures.By 1976 all KM brooms seem to be made by Regina.

Thanks Jimmy! It was fun talking to you on the phone. As soon as I receive the photo I’ll create a “wanted” thread for the elusive Sears Lightweight Cleaner broom vac by Douglas!
