Unless you provide pictures of everything, are willing to pack and ship OR drop off vacs at a UPS store that will work with customers over the phone to pack and ship, and take electronic payments, I don't think you'll get enough customers to buy everything.

But good luck.  It looks like you have a lot of stuff there.

"old Cadillac / Clements"
Just curious, you two are easily 15-20 years younger than me.  I've never heard of these.  Where are you getting information about them and why would you want something that old?     The vacs you grew up with would have been from the 80s, 90s or maybe the 70s.

Okay, so we have to be 60 to like a vacuum. That's interesting theory. The dual sanitronic 80 is one of my favorite vacuums yet it's still 13-15 years before I was born. I have a 1937 3c and a 1922 p a geier handvac and a 1926 royal upright. If we follow your theory nobody on this board can collect past 1950s.
I have an American Lincoln super sweep the 1984 version. I like the ds80 1967-1969. I like history and learning about it.
I could argue vacs made after 2000 you shouldn't be able to like. The reasoning is my generation inven3nted it and your too old and smart enough to own one.
I also like several sports cars from 1950s to 1971.
I like the history behind the vacuum.
The internet is advanced because my generation advanced it. My generation also advanced everything to heights it is today.

lol? Why does anyone collect anything? Because it's cool, duh.

Sadly, there is little to no information on Clements-made vacs. There are some out there, though, and I already own 3. The one thing I do know is that Clements was a major player in the vacuum game in the very early days, around turn of the century.

Post# 417749 , Reply# 12   12/29/2019 at 20:16 (1,551 days old) by gregvacs28 (U.S.)

Nothing to get defensive about people, I'm just wondering what the basis is of your interest.

Also, if you're legit interested in these or if you're just  special interest sellers of said vacs hoping to pump up interest in them in order to off load them.

People can and do collect any number of things for a number of unique reasons.   Often times people have an interest in something "older" because they grew up with it and it's familiar and comforting.

But one can certainly collect things for other reasons.

"Sadly, there is little to no information on Clements-made vacs."  This is what I'm saying so...... how did you find out about it?

Les- do you think maybe, just maybe this "The internet is advanced because my generation advanced it. "  is stretching things a little bit?  Maybe previous generations that contained people like..... Michael Dell and a small little niche player like Bill Gates might get a little bit of the credit?

If you don't want people to make fruitless assumptions maybe you should not yourself.
I'm not closed minded enough to agree with my assumptions.
I grew up with the shoddiest Kenmore cannister. It just didn't work well. The first vacuum that did was a g4 Kirby.
I collect old vacuums as I feel it carries on the original owners legacy. It's me paying homage to their vacuum and teaching others about it.
I have no pre conceived assumptions or beliefs. Al Gore invented the internet. It wasn't the army in the early 1960s.
Les
Maybe madman bought a Cadillac hand vacuum because he liked the style. I believe then he came across a MFG of a vacuum similar to the Cadillac and it intrigued him.

MW & DD

Brown MW/Eureka--Nice vac with 2 speed switch in handle,6 position adjuster, headlight, etc. The UR is very good with nice original bag with good zipper and nice original cord but no motor or brush. The base seems to have good motor but bad fan.
Pro Series(blue)Can Vac--1 with worn bearing.1 with BAD fan.
Can Vac(red)--All good. One with PowerPak is nicest.

(Can Vacs are an example of what I am trying to do as to gathering same makes and models and any related hoses, parts, etc together from a 1 story building with back room and a 2 story building with half attic.)

Damien,

After having little time at old vac store I will make time to sort and empty in 2020 and should finally know what I do or don't have.
Hoovers--Just this weekend I moved 20+ 20s/30s uprights to one area of upstairs.Should be extra 825 & 700/750.Haven't made list and saw no Hedlites.I may keep a very few as I will have some shipping cartons & att sets for some. There are more DAM in attic. Some should be Power Drive. These seem to mostly be blue/white or orange/white.
Will have Convertible hoses with attached rear connector.
Electrolux--Will have many Automatics but most 1205s are gone.
70s GE upright--That is probably all in above picture.

Greg, you're a little bit difficult to converse with, aren't you? To answer your question for a second time, and expound a bit: I purchased a Cadillac vacuum cleaner, that's how I know about them. And I have done research on it and the manufacturer (Clements Mfg Co.). The fellow who started the company was a Chicagoan named George Clements, and he has 10 or 15 patents (which are easy to research) for mostly vacuum-related stuff. The earliest of them are for a large horse-drawn wagon vacuum cleaner. Several of his patents seem to have been infringed upon by other manufacturers. An old Eureka I also own, for example, infringes on his bag design. In fact, he sued both Kirby and Eureka for different things and won both cases, iirc. The name Cadillac for vacuum cleaners also pops up in a few very old google books, mentioned as part of a vacuum cleaners manufacturers association.

The company is still in business today, but it's been split in half and the half that makes industrial blowers is run by a bunch of incompetent a-holes. Just thought I'd mention that.

Hey Jimmy, as you're digging around for stuff, if you happen to come across the brown [not the gray one] plastic cord halo for the 1984 Electrolux Special (Economy) Model and the off-white cord that attaches to two screw-terminals behind the cord winder, would you be willing to send these my way? Thanks...

Elux Special halo

Yes.Some sorting has begun on bags & attachments.Later parts such as halo. Most Special vacs are gone but there should be misc parts.(Will any want correct color genuine hose for display even if not to use daily??)There is probably a brown Special box.The brown halo had 2 slightly different versions that used 2 different screws.Either should work.

Looking for a certain convertible...

I lost my Kmart Hoover convertible because some guy at a vacuum store ended up throwing it out without my knowledge. It’s same one as the brown convertible in picture number 7, but has the hood style of the convertible in the lower left hand corner in picture number 6. Also curious what the straight suction cleaner is in the same aforementioned picture.

Thanks Jimmy... I didn't know there were two different types of halos; that doesn't matter to me, as long as it will fit.

I have a Special in beautiful condition. It came with the cord winder which I don't like on that model so I want to replace it with the halo.

I don't need a hose. After taking these photos I found a perfect, original hose.

I don't know Charles, doesn't the "deluxe" connote having a power nozzle?

You might have to throw that box out and wait for another 40 year box to randomly show up to package that adorable Olympia Special.

In my vacuum collecting career I've had probably 3 of these special vacs in the Olympia and one Silverado special, but none of the Jubilee specials.

I like them without either the winder or the spool. They look like minis of the full size automatic versions. I just wish the Specials had a parallel handle like the full-size versions.

Went to that thrift store where they had the Special a month ago, on Saturday. When I was checking out the vacuums I found a chrome Electrolux wand without a price on it. Whoever bought the vacuum must have forgot it. I wanted to buy the wand to go along with my Christmas gift Marquis, but weirdly the store clerk was afraid to sell something without a price on it.

most none of the machines he has have left work (cut cords), require alot of restoration to get them running (broken/missing parts such as switches, brushrolls), and he charges a premium because theyre "hard to find". (mostly anything not hoover, kirby or eureka)

granted what i was looking for i knew the issues coming into it and knew it was going to be basketcase to make functional.

if youre expecting pristine, clean running machines from what jimmy has left, you will be in for a shock. most of the machines he has are very dirty, moldy or full of dead bugs. he has LOTS of good attachments, parts and hoses that are in decent, but require significant cleaning (bleach or heavy soak in hot simple green) to actually be usable. DO NOT expect what he has to be "user ready" if you go pick his store in person.

he is not as rushed to git rid of machines as he makes you think. if you know its not easy to find, he wont let it go for a cheap price. be aware of this upon a visit. also wear clothes you plan on getting dirty, and bring gloves and your own water to drink.

i dont know if he cleans up shipped items or not, this is strictly speaking in store picking.

Gary,

Will probably have wands, not sure about floor brush.

Will,
To begin to answer some of this I would recall trips to vac stores where I was in danger from ice and weather as well as possible carbon monoxide and myself and others had a great time with interesting finds.
With as many vacs as I have from collecting as well as the store there is a range of conditions from parts vacs to very good. The above pictures(many more to follow)will show that it is what it is.Part of sorting is to separate good from bad with hopefully collectors at one end and dumpster & scrap metal yard at other.
"-in for a shock-"Don't be!As with the above WHouse any can request pictures and description.
"-not in rush-"Yes I am!2 buildings with 2 electric bills, 2 water bills, etc is one to many.I have 3 potential buyers for an EMPTY building and that is what it will become in 2020!!
"-charge a premium-"There is MUCH here that can be from $0.00 to $20.00.recently 3 truckloads went to a local vac dealer who wanted them at NO charge.Mostly plastic, bagless dept store vacs but also Kirby Heritage,Elux Discovery and more.If a vac routinely sells for $30-$70 on EBay should I sell same or similar vac for $1.50???If a vac sells for $340.00 on EBay(selling price not just asking)and I have same or better should I sell mine for $3.75???
"-cleans-shipped items-"Before my EBay seller died shipped vacs were cleaned, described and pictured as they can be now with no complaints.

Jeff,

Kirby cords-not likely
LX parts-probably
Sears broom vac-I have many Sears bags that may include for this broom.I don't think I have seen more than 1 of these in 30 years. The most common Kenmore colors at this time were shades of tan, green & blue.

Damien,
Have a very few twin fan models, some attachments but probably only 1 self propelled.
Air freshener-Have not had many but might be at least 1.Hoping to find outer bags for Convertible and F & G style Eurekas this weekend.

Thanks Jimmy,

Would you like me to wait to hear from you, or should I call you in a few weeks to check? Maybe I should have a package of those bags that fit the Sears broom and prepare for the vacs appearance. Jeff

Jimmy,

I just attempted to email you at vacshop520@centurylink.net. Undelivered message came back. Would you be willing to email me a copy of photo of Sears catalog showing broom vacs? Then I can use that photo to post “wanted” thread to attempt to locate one of those. I guess one cannot copy photos from VacuumLand or at least I couldn’t figure it out. Thanks, Jeff

Good morning Jimmy I don't know if any of them eureka f&g outer bags are vinyl but I prefer them and I forgot to add to the list granted you happen to have 1 a shetland floor polisher with a tank and a headlight. If the shetland I mentioned has a flat handle I would prefer that but I'll take any handle as long as it has a tank and headlight.
Also feel free to offer me anything that would otherwise end up being tossed or scraped.
Hope to actually visit you soon.

Damien,

Didn't get to sort F&G bags yesterday but did find 3 more Sunbeam downstairs to join those upstairs. Also found 2 gray Special halos so may be closer to finding brown that Charles needs. Will soon separate 2 brush polishers as to Hoover and non Hoover. Also some brushes.Would be great if you could come down perhaps on way to visit relatives in NC.
Pete,
GE is still here, still available. Will be making more time for vacs until most are gone.

Jimmy has some neat things! I got a nice sunbeam upright and early Regina housekeeper when I was there.
