I use it with the Perfect battery power nozzle (I use this nozzle with all my vintage canisters that didn't ever have one). This S-1 from 1962 is quiet and efficient and gets the rug CLEAN!

The cleaner was sold by home demonstration. This machine was $229 in 1962. The demonstration was a combination of demo's from two companies - Silver King and Filter Queen. The machine was NOT grounded but came with a water valve (like in a shop vac) and they told the user to pick up water with it. I'm shocked!
The cleaner was supposed to be 'space age' and a brand new invention - but it was really an old McAllister Bagless with a bag.

I remember seeing one of those in my parents' garage years ago. I wasn't really into vacuum cleaners back then, so I didn't think much about it except that it looked cool. I looked for it when we were clearing out their house in 2016, but it wasn't there anymore. I would have snagged it for sure if I had seen it.

The movie is funny as hell. Thank goodness the model they chose for the movie has a self-cooling by-pass motor that is also capable of handling 'wet cleaning' chores.
My husband lived in LA for many years and told me about the prop houses where the props departments working on movies rents their stuff. They have so much stuff. And they are always getting rid of excess with sales, etc. He told me they have rows of appliances for prop masters to chose from. I'm sure the Fairfax was put back into the 'pile' after they were done with the movie filming. | ||
