I'm getting this vacuum for Christmas for a friend of mine and had a few questions. First, what does everyone think of their Felix. I've done a search on the forums and many seem to think that it's one of the best uprights available.
When it comes to hard floors, do you find that it cleans better to use the hard floor brush or to just use the power head, switch off the brush roll and set the height to the lowest setting?
I've seen some mentions about a modification you can do to the hard floor brush to make it work better, I think you remove the front brush strip? If so, what is the advantage of doing this and will it still work if this is not done? Could someone describe this modification for me in detail since my friend is not mechanically inclined. Also I'm a blind person so a detailed description would be helpful. I've seen a video where this was done and I think you remove a yellow tab that holds the brush strip in. Does one tab hold both strips or does each strip have a separate tab?
I think she will like the new machine, right now she is using a 30 year old Hoover and it's definitely starting to show its age.

My Sebo Felix is my Daily Driver

Congratulations Mike!

What a great Christmas present, your friend should love it. Do you have a Felix of your own?

I have a mixture of 80% carpet and area rugs and 20% hard floors in my home. I will say since I have just a little bit of hard flooring, I do tend to use the powerhead with the Brushroll turned off and the height set to it’s lowest position. However when I do use the premium parquet brush, I do find it cleans better, especially getting up the fine dust that tends to stick to the surface of hardwood and tile. I have never needed to or would ever want to modify my parquet brush, so I can’t help you there. I have never found a need to modify it as it works great in my home cleaning. I think I would use the Parquet or Kombi nozzle more often if the Felix would/could stand upright on it’s own with either of these attached. But it’s not a huge inconvenience and I tend to just prop the Felix up against the couch or a chair or just lay it flat on the floor so it won’t fall over.

My Felix is used for most of my cleaning needs and like I said, tends to be my daily driver. I really enjoy using it and find it’s versatility and great cleaning ability the main reason I enjoy it so much. I also love a bagged vacuum for my daily driver, as they tend to take up much more time when I’m cleaning. Meaning, I don’t ever leave my bagless vacuums with dirt inside their dirt bin/cup as I always dump them, wipe out the bin, wipe down all the dust that stirs up from dumping it then I usually vacuum the filters, screens, etc clean with a bagged canister vacuum and then I can finally put it away. Lol

I really do enjoy my Sebo Felix, and can’t say it’s the “best upright available” as that is a very personal choice and not every vacuum will work for every person. As far as all the Upright vacuums in my collection (250 vacuums) I do put my Sebo Felix in the top five out of the top ten bagged uprights I own.. I can only narrow my Favorite Bagged Upright list to my top Ten, it’s like Sophies Choice for me! I love them all!

My Top Ten Bagged Upright Vacuums (In no particular order)

Sebo Felix 1 Premium
Miele S7 Swing Upright
Kirby Sentria 2
Maytag M1200 Dual Motor Bagged Upright
Riccar Premium Vibrance Bagged Upright, R20P.2
Oreck Edge Bagged Upright, U8000
Fuller Brush Mighty Maid Bagged Upright
Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright
Kenmore Elite Bagged Upright
Riccar Cordless SupraLite Bagged Upright

Sorry to ramble on and share more than you asked about, but as an avid collector I can’t help myself! Lol. I think you picked an Excellent vacuum in the Sebo Felix and I’m sure your friend will LOVE her Christmas gift!

I actually bought my Sebo Felix after asking my friend Roger Lang (ibasiaic) what vacuum cleaner he bought for his Mom, thinking he’d buy the best for her. He told me how she’s had the Felix he bought for her 10 or so years ago and it’s still working great and she loves it. Roger also owns one himself (the Snazzy looking Russo Red) so I figured I would give it a try. After I bought the Felix I never regretted it and it’s been my favorite ever since. Still working great and works as well as when it was bought, five years ago. I added some pictures of mine just to show off the special USA Flag Filter I’d bought as it looks so cool.

Thanks for sharing and please let us know what your friend thinks of her Felix!

Patrick

thanks for the information

Thanks for all of the information, much appreciated. I actually don't have a Felix, I much prefer hose cleaners, whether pull around canister, backpack or the most powerful option, central vacuum units, connecting the hose directly to those is awesome. I currently have no uprights in my collection though I've actually thought about getting a Felix. I think, at least in theory, I should be able to attach my Sebo hose adapter that I have for my Airbelt D1 canister that allows you to use standard 1.25 size attachments to it. At that point, I should be able to use all of my favorite hard floor brushes which would be awesome.
My friend is an upright person and does not like canisters so I wanted to get her a vacuum that was well made and provides the most flexibility. Many uprights simply do not clean hard floors well, as far as I know, the Felix is the only upright that allows you to attach a separate floor brush.
I will include a video that mentions the hard floor brush modification, by the way, great video Alex. If you don't want to watch the entire video, it's around the 13:30 time point. I think she will really like her new vacuum, at least I hope so, lol.

Sebo make excellent vacuums. I’ve used a Felix before, but don’t have one. I sprung for the X7, which is currently my daily. I love it.

Anyways, you can’t go wrong with the Felix, or the Dart, for that matter.

Just added a Sebo X7 premium to my collection-The ONLY clean air vacuum that really works. Its alongside my Kirbys!!!The vacuum has a soft start motor-the nozzle height adjust has been improved. The machine has a 12A motor-its a beast-and its brush-like the Kirby vibrates the floor!!!AND---it has an effective LED headlight-the light is focused on the floor allowing you to see dirt easily.Bought the first one in the dealers stock here.Just came in.

Always wanted a Felix, just looks like it's sturdy and well designed, but never was in the budget. Clicked once on Amazon for a used one and got worried it being used. Nice video for sure

My recently purchased used Felix is the first vacuum my wife likes following my purchases of a Miele C3 and U1 and a Shark Ultra-lite Rocket.

My ~8-10 year old Felix had a loose hose-switch issue that I think I have finally resolved after many weeks of failed service calls (I eventually got it corrected myself). Other than that, it has been fantastic.

My wife likes that it is light, maneuverable and agile in tight spaces.

On setting 1 on the ET-1 it is ok on hard floors, but nothing will beat a Miele Parquet Floor Twister head.

my friend loves her felix

My friend loves her felix, at first she wasn't sure what it was, it comes in a plain box, she was a bit surprised, I think it will work really well for her. I enjoyed watching her open it. I'm not an upright person, I much prefer canister cleaners, but I have to say that this is probably the best upright cleaner in existence.

The modification you are looking for is to remove the front brush strip. I'm not sure of the details Vacuumdevil has done it on his channel on one of his Sebo reviews.

hard floor tool

Based on other suggestions, I'm going to leave the tool in its original design, it seems to work just fine that way. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm sure Sebo has a good reason for having a front brush strip. Actually I'm not sure if Sebo designed that tool or if it's a Wessel-Werk design.
