Thanks to Eric Skau for his amazing donation of his entire vacuum collection to The Vacuum Cleaner Museum located in Rolla, MO inside Mid Missouri Vacuum.
I've been cleaning and unpacking his collection of over 40 years. Some really unusual Hoovers are there. Anyone who knows me, knows I liked Hoovers (especially the very early ones made up to world war II) but didn't ever "love" them. I always thought there were better brands. I'm delighted to share these most unusual models, and will confess that my "love" for Hoover has shot up tremendously since receiving Eric's collection. First Up: The amazing Hoover 707.

One of my friends joked that he wanted to make a man-purse out of that bag.
Thanks again Eric. It IS a very unusual and fun vacuum.

There is no model number stamped into the bottom of the casting. But this Hoover Commercial Convertible has more power than any other model of Convertible I've ever used.

Thanks again to Eric Skau for this wonderful machine with its four row brush roller. It walks across the floor. I might just have to use this at home for a week or two before placing it into the Museum.

There is a bellows and fill tube for the type C bag inside the black cloth outer jacket. Such a powerful cleaner.

This is the first stick vac from Hoovrah that I've ever seen with a kickstand that's also runners.
First, with the kickstand out. I guess that if you are interrupted while cleaning you could just lay it back. Obviously, Hoover copied Air-Way yet again.

Would take way too much storage space to store it like this.

I have the complete set of cleaning tools for this machine. Wish it had more suction - but that's Hoover for ya.
When you remove the handle and nozzle, and insert the hose, you can pull the machine along by the kickstand against the body - which now makes them runners for pulling across a floor. Great Idea - too bad Regina had it first. It's still a fun cleaner, and one that I've never seen before.

Eric donated two Hoover model 70 convertibles. I took the two that he gave me and made one perfect one. Such a lovely machine.

It came out like a dream. Thank you Eric for such great “bones” to work with. My model 70 is now perfect. Love you so much for your generosity. It is on display for the world to see.

Tom,
You have no idea how seeing the vacuums all cleaned and shined up makes me feel. You are accomplishing everything that I wanted to do but, did not have the time. I had always wanted to make the one perfect Hoover 70. This is why I had two! The Kirby 519 is a combination of 3 Kirbys that I bought, CLOSELY following Charles Richard Lester's history of Kirby! My house and basement still feels so empty! I subscribe to a Estate Sale here on Staten Island and OF COURSE there is a BEAUTIFUL all original Electrolux Marquis! I will be sending you more framed advertisements as soon as I "find" everything... It seems like every closet or drawer I go in I am finding something else..... Thank you again and I treasure the day that I finally met the cast of characters! |

I'm very proud to be the one to curate and safe-keep your beautiful collection here at the Vacuum Museum.
I have three file cabinets full of vacuum materials. Enough to write books, and newsletters for decades. The vacuum collectors who come to the Convention in May are always welcome to look through this tremendous amount of printed material. While looking in binders of Hoover spec sheets, I came across what I think was the spec sheet for the Commercial model. I took that one home to do the Sunday Sweepin this week. Such a wonderful cleaner and so powerful.

Gorgeous Hoover model 61. Thank you Eric. It’s truly a jewel. And the fact that you had the original box, the hose, the bags, and all the attachments. Wow.

The Crown jewel. The green dream. The fantastic Hoover constellation model 87. Thank you for both of them Eric. To have one is every collectors dream. But to have two. Heaven.

I have been going through my Hoover spec sheets binders for the past several days, and forgot I had this beautiful sheet on the "69". One of the corners of the bag was rubbed where it had bumped against a wall. I asked my resident Hoover expert for advice and he's sending me the new bag. John is wonderful to me. To be clear, Gregory. I love this machine and can't wait to get the brand new bag.
