Hello all does anyone have a picture of any black large Kenmore Vacs with Power Nozzle I think it must be from mid to late 90's as I was there in 99 and there was a Eureka vacuum that almost screamed and halfway round one floor would stop due to being full and there was also in a cupboard in my room still in its box this large black kenmore all I can remember is it was Grey and black had metal tubes and the on off switch was in the handle you could select floor or rug and the more I think it had a light in the front of the power nozzle I recall it had amazing suction and with it being so quiet you could hear sand going up the pipes. The extra tools were onboard the main part and underneath was the bag compartment. I used to love the fact that it had a cord rewind that was so quick it would pull the cord straight out socket so no need to bend down to unplug it ..

I hope someone can shed some light for me

Austin

Austin, I believe I have the Kenmore model that preceded yours. It's from the very early 90's, it's light grey with a darker trim in grey as well. Your black or charcoal came next. Mine is called a 4.5 EVPC and yours I believe is a 4.7 EVPC They do have great suction and the cord winder is fast. In fact I've heard that if you don't slow it down before it completely retracts that in time the plug can be separated from the cord from hitting the machine at the opening where the cord goes into the machine. If that happens, more than likely the cord will travel too far on to the spool and spinning around causing the spool to lose tension from over winding. I wouldn't allow the machine to pull the plug from the outlet because that will strain the plug also, best to pull it out with your hand, really! Safer! The power nozzle is called PowerMate with a light and a reset button on top. The vacuum cleaner has the on/off switch in the pistol grip and a slider that you use to adjust the speed of the main motor, not the power nozzle, it is one speed only.There's also an on/off switch on the back of the cleaner, however the machine only operates with the hose connected and switched on. I never use the main switch, it's always set to on, not sure why it's even there. I can't post a pic at this time but I know other members have a similar Kenmore to yours as I've seen them on this sight. Did you end up owning this model or just have memories of it?

@Kirbyklekter

Thank you ever so much for all that wonderful information I sadly do not have the cleaner I wish I had brought it home in a suitcase but it would have not worked on our power supply and finding a transformer that is suitable is not an easy task.
I can only assume it was sold with the house as no body would have cleared it beforehand. It did not have a slider that I recall but I do remember the on off switch on the back of the machine it was opposite to the cord rewind. I also remember the light on the front I was amazed at how good it was and so easy to use and made me question why on earth did we not have similar vacuums here I have seen a couple but they were really high end and very much high end price.
Again thank you for replying.
