So I couldn’t resist, being a Rainbow dealer I finally decided to get the new SRX And I must say I am quite impressed. It has a four-speed motor along with a timer for the air purification system. The new powerhead grooms the carpet very nicely and the machine is much quieter than previous models. It now has a hydraulic system to where the machine lifts up and you slide the bowl in place. The powerhead adjust very well to various types of carpeting including a pretty thick shag rug I have in my living room. The main unit is actually smaller and lighter weight than previous models. All in all they done a great job with this model in my opinion.

Accessories such as the Supermop / Rainjet, shampooer, mini powerhead, etc. are the same as the previous model. So my accessories I had from my E2 black fit. Attached pictures of the manuals. The new things they include standard are the wet pick up head, and the pet grooming brush.

I am amazed at how well it grooms this rug, A lot of my vacuums cannot vacuum this rug at all.

They stopped it for the E2 black within the last month because I needed one for a customer and we couldn’t order it, so that’s the only one I know that don’t fit, but everything that connects to the wands is the same. I’m not for certain but the water tank on the SRX seems smaller. I don’t know about a 4 Quart basin.

It’s actually almost like a serpentine belt in a car. It’s very high quality and seems reinforced. I can’t remember exactly what it would be called. Similar to an Oreck enduralife belt. The machine has an extra which is nice but it’s certainly not like the old style stretch belts of the SE and E series Gold and Blue and early E2B’s before the side mounted belt.

Nor am I a distributor for Rexair, I’m just a dealer. I was saying we couldn’t order them anymore for the E2 Black, just a particular model and style. They may have them, our office just doesn’t have them right now. They would have to be a redesign because the hose end is completely different for the SRX. I just find it interesting you get a wet pickup tool that looks like the end of the mini jet but it’s just for pickup of wet spills, not shampooing. They probably do have one, but inventory is in a transition process right now with most distributors still clearing out bits and pieces of the old inventory.

You know it's built well if Rexair makes it. I feel so obsolete with my gold 2 speed. But I still LOVE it.
I can't get over the size of that PN. It looks huge! I'm trying to understand taking the separator off and cleaning it. I just take my machine off the dolly, carry it to the counter by the sink and set it on its side to take separator off and wipe all around underneath before storing it. But this looks like it would be harder to do that the way it's designed. I dunno. I'd still LOVE to have one.....but can't pay for another brand new rainbow again especially when mine is in top notch condition. Still, I'd LOVE to have this machine. |

I was worried about the separator too, it’s a bit more awkward to get to but after you get used to it it’s not so bad. The Powerhead is rather large and considering I have a smaller house it’s taken a bit to get used to without bumping into everything. I really do like the new design though. I was unsure if I would like the belt being in the center but they did a good job of it being recessed In the machine and out of the air way. The stainless steel brushroller also feels quality and grooms the carpet very well with a nice sound to it. All in all it’s a nice machine and the improvements seem justified for the most part.

Let me know if any other angles, it does use a smaller plastic piece to lock it but it doesn’t hold much from that.

Looks really nice and cool with the bright lights. Nice update. My only quibbles are the fact you can't take the machine off the dolly (sometimes that's handy) and no retractable cord. I feel that big honking power nozzle could have been made smaller had they tried. It really did appear to groom that carpet excellently. |

I can't even put a cap of the fresh air concentrate in my gold 2 speed without foaming like crazy, and I have hard water. I never understood that because it's designed for rainbows specifically. I even have problems with less than that, so I've just stuck to the small bottles or essential oils that do not foam at all.

Not really to be honest. It’s a great machine I have about 1200sq ft home with lots of various types of flooring. If you really want a rainbow try to find One either at a vac shop or check craigslist, marketplace etc. We plan to eventually buy my grandpas house which is a bigger home with multiple floors so then I will need my old SE and my SRX for each level and will have a central vac put in. But honestly I just can’t see it being justified paying $3000 for a machine for a small apartment. That’s just my opinion.

Hey- I think I know exactly what you mean. My 2006 gold 2 speed has always done this from day one, but only with the electric hose, the non-electric doesn't do it. It's like a hissing sound ONLY at the moment you're pulling the machine along with you, once you stop pulling that hissing stops....so it's not constant. I've always thought that it's unbelievable that a machine such as Rainbow would have that issue. I thought it was just an issue with mine at first, but I've read others too...so it must be common. It's not a huge deal to me but it is annoying that it does that. Hopefully, the new ones don't do that although I won't be getting a new one.

I'd totally LOVE to have one of these because Rainbows rock. I was jealous of the Black model and now I'm jealous of this model. But I used my gold today and the way they make your house smell after you're done can't be beat. I can't explain it: It's like after you've cleaned high and low with one you feel like you're in a medical clean room or something. I still can't get over how GIANT that PN looks.

I refuse to pay the interest that Rainbow finance charges. Even with great credit they try to trick you into paying an APR of 20%. I wrote a check for mine after getting a loan to consolidate some other debit from my local credit union. So I got my machine for $2600 and my personal loan is 3.4% APR. This will be the last Rainbow I buy so for me it’s justified but it’s not for everyone, certainly not for almost 5k after finance charges with there standard “easy payments” .

If you get a credit card no interest for 18 months. I'm pulling numbers off the top of my head. 3% balance transfer fee $75.
$150 a month for 18 months. You only have to pay transfer fee. Its $75 twice a month or 37.50 a week. If you pay every week you could shave off 3-5 payments of 37.50. If you can afford it I'd do it. I can't afford it. It looks like it's living up to the hype. Les |

I was somewhat impulsive. My E2 black was perfectly fine, I just went crazy for the redesign since it was something that happens only about every 10 years or so. I could’ve used the money elsewhere however I still don’t regret it because I don’t plan to ever buy a brand new Rainbow again.
Hepa Filters- Service centers seem to vary on their prices sometimes charging way too much, at least in my area. You can save a ton of money doing it yourself, just order a genuine filter. You can usually YouTube service on most rainbow models. Something as simple as changing the hepa filter is relatively simple for most only taking minimal tools in most cases a flathead screw driver. The new model uses the torx head I’m guessing because most households don’t have those in the standard tool drawer thus making users take it to a service center. I do like that Rainbow now shows a how to video of such maintenance as most users are not always informed. |

For this Rainbow should have used the filter cover that doesn't need tools to open.Otherwise the filter WILL be neglected by most users. You can get the tools from any Home Depot,Lowes,Menards or other hardware places. |

If you have great credit here's an option.
Credit card 18 months no interest. When on 18th month get another card 18 months no interest. Here's the only fee 3%. If you split up 2600 into 36 months. Card one you pay $72 a month 18 months you paid about $1300 if you found up. Card 2 73.75 a month for 18 months. In the end you pay $2639. 0 being interest, $39 balance transfer fee on $1300 from card 1 to card 2. The trick is don't use cards for anything. If you do in the fine print is you pay off lower APR before higher APR. If you bought a $10 item you pay interest on it until the entire balance is paid off. If you are late that's usually fine. If you miss payment and just skip the payment or pay 30 days after due date that's when your up a creek. If you are late call customer service and they can take fees off. I'm throwing this out there FYI if credit card or any merchant says they can't put refund etc. They are lying through there teeth. If they put it on the card they. Can take it off or vise versa. If there adament tell them you have the ability to put it on my card but that ability disappears. It doesn't if they can debit then they can credit. I worked for amex for 8 years. My wife had a past due on her bank account. I kindly demanded that banking location top manager. I asked about the due date was 1. We paid on the 20th. I asked the manager the cut date. She took a while to find it. I believe it was the 1st. I said the date we missed was the 1st. The 2nd was 1 day past due and the 19th was 18 days past due. Idk why but the manager got bank branch president since she wasn't following me. She believed paying after the 1st was 30 days past due. I said no the 31st would be 30 days past due. The branch president said to bank manager you know he is right they were never 30 days past due. The whole branch got training. They took the 30 days past due off her credit. Wouldn't you know 640 became 750. The bank gave us a whole bunch of free small perk items. If you followed that side tangent thanks. If you didn't I'm sorry not trying to hijack the thread. I'm trying to educate and maybe help people. I know lots of the most random things. Les |

Being that I own both the E2 Black and The SRX there are a few things about the new machine that in my opinion are somewhat cons.
-The Basin is smaller and not as thick of plastic as the E2 -The machine becomes hotter during use than the E2 making me wonder the lifespan of the motor. -The Powerhead is huge and can be cumbersome at times. Overall, some things seem cheaper to me but all in all I still love the machine and I’m glad to have it. I just hope it holds up as long as previous models. |

Have you gotten a response yet? If he responds favorably, you might be able to throw him business from a few more of us on Vacuum land..... |

Would the wands for the new PN fit the E series 1 speed hose? Or would a new hose be necessary too? |

I would appreciate it! 😃 I ask only because I’m getting an E series 1 speed and as a future upgrade I was thinking of getting the one of the new power nozzles for it. |

A wand from my old E2 does click into the wands and powerhead of the SRX. :) I can’t test connecting anything electrical because I only have a wand from my old machine, but the wands fit! Good luck! |

If there is an optional non-electric hose (preferably long) that goes with the SRX Rainbow? As much as I love direct connect and the only one hose, the thing that I hate is you're stuck with that handle getting in the way. To illustrate that, here are two pics, one with the wand and the handle, especially when using the dusting brush or upholstery brush. If you clean like I do, and you have used a vacuum with a dusting brush to get in tight places, there is a major difference with wand vs handle. The handle is just so bulky and not as easy to hold as the wand.
I'm pretty sure the black had a non-electric hose but I'm not sure the SRX does. |

You may could leave a comment on one of Rainbow Insight 101’s YouTube videos and ask him. He posted one recently of the 14ft electric hose. |
