I just picked up a kirby 505 but it has red trim , handle and bag, did the 505 come in red?

I guess the the motor is the only part that is a 505. |

Unfortunately, it would cost a king's ransom to convert it back to how it looked originally, the correct 505 bags are as rare as hen's teeth.
A nice looking machine no doubt but bojacked Kirby's (even a 505) are a dime a dozen. What's more, if the original builder's plate was removed (or replaced with a Kirby rebuild plate) the originality is gone. |

I disagree. I have a rebuilt 505. It doesn't make it less desirable. I have it and a 3rd 505 1 or 2 small items being restored back to factory original.
It's the parts not being correct a rebuild plate with fully restored to OEM is just as desirable. Parts can be found. You have to know what you are looking for. I know exactly what to look for. Just wishing texaskirbyguy would give up his model C emtor and I'd trade original 505 emtor. Les |
