My Bissell 9500 Pro Heat 2X carpet cleaner (purchased new about 11 years ago) squirts water through the nozzles in "Floor Cleaning" mode just fine, but I usually can't get it to squirt through the hose from either the water tank or the detergent tank in "Tools" mode; the problem seems to be intermittent. For this reason (and because I am afraid of breaking something) I am reluctant to disconnect the "Tools" hose because I am not sure how to go about it.

I'm a technical guy so I have checked the obvious (such as cleaning the screen and trying to get it to squirt without a tool attached) but, because I work with metal objects daily, I am just not comfortable tearing into this plastic machine without a bit of expertise from others who are "in the know". Any suggestions as to where to start?

For what it's worth, this machine has neither a separate filter in the base nor a "priming button" for the "Tools" hose as I have seen in some YouTube videos about Bissell carpet cleaners.

Well your business definitely lasted a lot longer than it was intended to. Bissell scent the service center saying the pump was designed to last eight working hours before needing replacement. if I had to point a finger at anything in that machine I would consider replacing the manifold I'd also take the end off of the hose and clean it out usually calcium gets stuck in there.

Good luck to you.
