Hello Everybody!

I wanted to see if I could get some help dating this vacuum and maybe some information about the last year it was sold. I found them for sale as late as 2002 on Amazon, so I am putting it in the “Contemporary” category, but I also just found another Royal vacuum and put it on “Vintage” as it looked to be from 1997. SO if I got the forum incorrect on either of these, please forgive me it’s not intentional.

My find.. I walked into my favorite second hand store and sitting behind a pile of junk I saw a familiar blue color and found this lightly used, great running Royal Platinum Force Hand Vacuum, Model 08240! It was a steal at $10 bucks but it was also on a 50% off Day so it only cost me $5 bucks. It took very little to clean it up as it appears to have been barely used or taken great care of it.. other than a few scuffs, it runs and sounds like new.

So I was wondering and hoping someone on here could help me crack the Manufacture codes for Royal and Dirt Devil vacuums and give me some insight as to the age of my two new (old) finds. This Platinum Force is Manufacture Code: H01A (See Pic 2)

If you have any questions, please let me know and any and all help would be greatly appreciated on dating these two vacuums. Thanks and have a great day!

Patrick

Usually
A January
B Feb
H August 2001 a is first day of the month.
If you look at effective warranty date 11/01 gives idea of close to when it was made.

Circa 2001

It came with the Platinum Force upright. I bought it from Sams Club in 2001. It was a terrible machine.

I have

The Platinum force hand vacuum. It has a 7 amp motor I believe. It's pretty big. I think the brush is 7 inches. If you get a little longer you could vacuum whole house with it.
