I have a telescopic wand (Miele p/n 09265991) which has suddenly (and I mean was fine yesterday and is now useless) started collapsing.
The rod won't take any forward pressure without the ratchet slipping, it is however steady as a rock in the other direction. It doesn't appear to be a problem with the track on the rod as no one hole is any better/worse than any other. So the issue appears to be at the locking mechanism.
I have popped off the button, but the mechanism itself seems to be firmly locked down and I can't get into it. Do I need to replace the whole wand?
I have seen a couple of vague mentions on-line that the problem might be solved with a button repair kit (p/n 5780932). When I apply some firm pressure to the locking mechanism with my thumb it is steady in both directions, so it might be that the spring is too old and needs replacing with the repair kit.
