I was looking for Eatons viking vacuum pictures on google and a picture caught my eye, it was my vacuum!
Why was I excited? Well I could never be totally sure the bag on my Viking was original because it was a bicentennial liberty bell and eagle bag which would be a bit odd to sell in Canada. I thought it was possibly all original because I seen a similar vacuum on youtube that had the same bag but I think it was the original eureka version of it. So I am quite excited to find this.

Here is the page translation since it is in french.

At current or discount prices, an Eaton Viking is always efficient.

Thanks for posting this! Now all Vacuumlanders can see how we Canadians saw most Eurekas in the 1960’s and 1970’s! Our biggest department stores (Eaton’s and The Bay) contracted Eureka to make most of their private label vacuums. These came out of Eureka’s Canadian “Onward Manufacturing” plant in Kitchener Ontario...just a long day’s truck ride from Bloomington, Illinois.

That Bicentennial 1976 Dust Bag from Eureka is very strange on a Canadian Viking upright! But it was probably only cleanerphiles like me who would have noticed the American connection. Maybe Bloomington had a surplus and sent the stock up over the border to Kitchener to just be economical?

Eureka always had a strong Canadian connection since it was established in 1909 in Detroit by a businessman from Toronto named Frank Wardell.

Merci beaucoup Ash!

Thank you for the information and history on this brand of vacuum.
I figured it must be that they had a bunch of extra bags so they sent them up here, it's awesome that I found proof of it cause it was only just an idea of mine.
I really love Eukrea vacs and I love the Eaton's version of it, Canadian pride. Plus the name they chose is pretty awesome. Viking vacuum just sounds really strong.
I didn't know the guy who founded Eukrea was Canadian, that is awesome.
