I picked this up a few months ago from a junk shop. It is rusty, The motor is shot ( it blew sparks out the exhaust and smelled of smoke) and the cord was rotting. It is a model AVT 173. Will a motor out of a swivel top fit it? It kind of reminds me of a model 815, but in a dark green instead of brown and it has a bag button instead of a latch. Does anyone have any info on it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

GE tank

Great find. This was last tank before the new Swivel Top.Yours has the push button bag cover release.Later version had latch. This tank introduced push button latch attachments that would be used on the Swivel Tops.Earlier tanks used friction fit.Motors are NOT same.Did you get hose or atts?

Sometimes, if a motor hasn't been used in many years, it will behave that way. Even if it has a problem, that the motor is running at all is good news. There's probably not much wrong with it besides brushes and bearings.

Unfortunately all i got was a set of white bojack attachements and hose. I did get the hose end that goes into the machine, although the rubber seal is falling off and missing a chunk.
As for the motor, it would be nice to have the original in it, so i will take it to an expert so it can be inspected, just in case it only needs parts . How can I take the back part off so i can take the motor out? Is it like the bag door, which has friction clips?

Just thought you might like to see what the original attachments were like. I made a copy of the accessory kit for a friend once. While it turned out very nicely it was a very difficult build.
