Hi Broomvac!
Interesting question. We can’t really date this kind of Eureka upright based on the shape of the motor hood - that profile was introduced way back in 1973 and continues to be used by Sanitaire to this day. The key indicator of the age of your Sanitaire is the logo and graphics. I’ll do a bit of research, but I would guess that I began seeing the Sanitaire blue line in vacuum dealers in the late 1990’s. And that swirly Sanitaire logo is relatively new as well. One other indicator is where it was manufactured. At some point Eureka’s parent company Electrolux moved assembly of all uprights from Bloomington, Illinois to Juarez, Mexico. I think that happened around 2000-2005. If your Sanitaire says “Assembled in Mexico”, than it is from the last two decades. If it says Made in USA, it’s probably from the 1990’s. |

Look for the number stamped on the bottom. My 2160E is stamped 87. |

Mine is stamped 0086, so does that mean it was made in 1986? |

@Eurekaprince
Hi there! Wow. Eureka, Electrolux, and even Bissell sure have gotten their money's worth out of the die they use to make those hoods. 1973-present; that's awesome! As you may have noticed in the video, I no longer have the original cream colored chassis for the vacuum. It, and with it the number plate, got pitched when installed the new black colored chassis. That said, I seem to recall that it was a Eureka built unit assembled in Illinois. Thanks for the info! You are a great resource. @constellation86 Thanks for the suggestion! It may not have helped me, but you helped the OP figure out when his 2061E was made. |

Broomvac....I am more and more convinced that your Sanitaire was born in Bloomington, Illinois in the early 1990’s - maybe even late 1980’s. The Sanitaire logo and graphics were used in that era, and there was a time in the 1980’s when, for some reason, Eureka labelled some of their classic “fan-first” uprights with wattage, not amps like they usually did for their new “bag first” Bravos and Victory uprights.
It would be so great if Bissell brought back this cool style of Blue Line Sanitaires - with headlights. They are the only remnant left of the amazing Eureka 2042 Dial-a-Nap upright from the 1970’s. |
