Hello Gentlemen!

I am working on an idea with a fellow collector/enthusiast. Our idea is to host a small appliance convention for those who collect other appliances besides vacuum cleaners, washers, dryers, mixers, toasters, irons, fans, well, you get the idea!

We could host it at a hotel with a meeting room similar to the way the vacuum cleaner convention is held. We realize this may be a challenge for those who collect large appliances but perhaps those collectors may be willing to host the offsite event at their homes similar to a "wash-in" at a designated point in the convention "weekend".

We need to form a small organizing committee so that we can explore the options: time of year, location, types of attractions, and even events such as making blueberry pancakes with the Sunbeam Waffle Iron and Grill model C1. Fans would be blowing, toasters would be toasting, mixers whirling, and so much more. There would be a for sale area, for trade area, and a free pile, too!

We need to determine if there is any interest in this type of venue. You would not have to be a member of either group per se. Oh! We can even have a sewing machine area and ironing station, too! What is washed at the "wash-in" would be brought back to the hotel for ironing later on.

Sean C, perhaps you may be interested in being on this committee, as well!

Please post your comments and thoughts here and if you'd like to be on the organizing committee. Then we can look at next steps.

That would be so cool. I collect small appliances as well, both vintage and newer. Especially fans. But I couldn't really make an out of state trip due to time constraints.

It does sound fun though.

there was a small appliance club years ago. But it died out. At least from what others have told me. Yes it would be a fun idea! Vacuums are my main thing. At the VCCC conventions we do trade small appliances and even at some mini meets.

Instead of a convention that folks have to travel to-how bout livestream?this would be best for those that don't want or can't travel.Remember the appliance forum did this on one of their washer-dryer mini meets. Was pretty neat.

There is still nothing like a face to face event!

I hear you guys about the streaming thing but meeting someone in person and making new friends is the way to go! Stay tuned. More details to comee.

I will be there with bells on. Hans, you should have the convention since you have the most small appliances of anyone I know.

It would be fun!

Midwest locations are generally the best for attendance. I only have one vintage appliance other than vacuums. A Sunbeam Radiant Toaster, it is now in storage as a I have new Cuisinart automatic toaster that I really like.

I did at one time have a Sunbeam stand mixer but when I moved to Dubuque I didn't have space for it and my Kitchen-Aide. So I think it ended up in the trash as no one wanted it.

The older I get the more I want to thin the herd...LOL

Although my vacuums seem to multiply, as people know I collect so they end up by the back door. Do small appliance do that as well....YIKES!
