Hey all,

I'm trying to work on a Kenmore Elite Upright Vacuum Cleaner and can't get the hood off. I took out every screw I can find, but can't seem to get the hood off. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Sincerely,
Larry

Larry, I know you want to take it apart & repair it yourself, but trust me - this is one machine you DO NOT want to open up & repair! VERY COMPLICATED DESIGN & a pain to re-assemble. Even repair shops bitch about the Kenmore uprights with Direct Drive. I also know from personal experience as I own the previous Kenmore Intuition with Direct Drive & tried to take it apart myself to do repairs, as you want to do....boy oh boy do I ever regret doing that!!!

Save yourself a HUGE headache & just take it into a repair shop. You won't regret spending the money.

Rob

I work on most other brands...lol...

I appreciate the advice, but this is for a friend of mine, so I want to do what I can for her. I work on almost all other brands, but this one takes the cake on pain in the butt machines!!!!

I've never taken apart a Kenmore Direct Drive, but here's a link to the parts diagram if that might help any.
