I'm having a problem with my Rainbow E2 Gold. When I took the clear covers off to wash the decals underneath and one of the tabs on the plastic covers broke off and fell inside the vacuum. I took it apart to look for it and hopefully remove it. I didn't see it and I put the vacuum back together and now it will not turn on. The only thing inside that I unplugged was the connector going to the power switch. I did not unplug anything from the computer. I really hope I didn't accidentally send a static shock to the computer. Does anyone have any advice? I'm considering bringing it to my local vacuum store and having them look at it but if it's something I can fix at home, I will do it if I know how to. Please help.

I'm pretty sure I know what happened. On the underside where the vacuum holds water basin. There is a hole for the water basin cleaning tool. The other side is a black tab. It is a piece of plastic that when you put water basin on engages and let's you turn on the motor.
Here is pic of where it goes it's a p arts vacuum. Once plastic piece and spring installed correctly it will power on. I took apart first rainbow and that piece fell out and vacuum shop showed me where it went and explained what it did. I hope this helps. Was your gold e2 housing full of foam or not? Les

Replying to Lesinutah, That was exactly the problem. I don't know how it popped out of place since I didn't remove that baffle plate but it did. My Rainbow is working perfectly now. To answer your question, No. My E2 Gold is the first generation so mine does not have the holder for the separator brush nor does it have any sound insulating foam.

Glad you didn't have to get a new machine. |

Static shock is extremely unlikely. Normal appliance grade controller type of electronics are not particularly sensitive to static. Hell even with PC components, you literally need a perfect storm of events to generate enough static and deliver it to precisely the correct pins of a particular chip.
In short, don't worry about it. |

Replying to juju93, the AquaMate 2 was launched with the E2 Gold (the model I have). I want to get one so bad so I can relieve the stress of carpet cleaning off of my Kirby G3.
Replying to kirbysthebest, Me too. I'm so glad I didn't have to get a new machine. I want to get a single speed Rainbow E-Series just to have one as a backup. Once you go Rainbow or Kirby, you can't just switch to a Kenmore or Dyson while the top shelf vacuums are in for repair. |
