Does anyone have any good alternatives to the Rainbow AquaMate carpet shampoo? I currently have 2 1 gallon bottles of Rug Doctor Oxy carpet shampoo and I'm going to be buying the Rainbow AquaMate 2 soon. I'm wondering if the Rug Doctor shampoo is compatible. I asked Rainbow themselves and they said it wasn't' compatible but I think they just want to push their chemicals.

Long story made shorter, what do you guys use in your Rainbow AquaMate?

Other chemicals in Aquamate

I sometimes wonder if the chemicals would be compatible. But 2 things come to mind that would make me AFRAID to use another chemical in the Aquamate (unless it was white vinegar something like that.....The fact that you're only using cool water and the possibility that since that chemical is not designed for the rainbow, if it would gum up the aquamate? Although really all you would need to do is flush with water after done, which I do anyway. Then there's the foaming issue. If you're using rug doctor shampoo or something like that in a rainbow, will it foam too much while the extracted water is swirling in the basin? That would be my biggest worry. You might try adding a small amount and mixing it with water. My gut tells me it wouldn't hurt a thing.

I've only ever used Rainbow's carpet shampoo, but, I'd feel relatively safe trying out another shampoo ( as long as its not a dry foam type, but I don't have any experience yet on that.

This should work.

I'd think Lindhaus Extractaire would work. It's an organic alcohol formula and leaves no residue so I can't imagine it'd gum up the lines. I've been using it for years now.

Any of the extractor carpet shampoo will work. The key is, it needs to not suds. I have used both Bissell and Hoover steam vac formulas in my Rainbow before with great success. There is nothing different about the rainbow shampooer than a Hoover. They are all the same on the inside.
