Anyone have a resource for better bags for this Prince 501 model Royal? Or a scheme to construct a hepa base bag for it? It seems to have to have the large plastic ‘ seal’ around the front of the bag & I wonder how one could one attach a hepa bag to it?

Yes. That’s my inclination, but I’m hoping some one might have knowledge of where correct bags might be sold. I was told that type H bags were used on these. I DID find eureka type H bags....but the package appearance leads me to believe they are too large....& no view of the opening of the bag is likkustrated on the outside to verify ( these Prince 501’s have sizable opening !)
Anyone know if the eureka bags would work? |

That will not work. Here we can see a tristar bag next to a Royal H. As for the Eureka H bags those are also a no go. It's odd that yours has a plastic ring i've only ever seen cardboard ones till this point but I'd hold onto that collar.
I've not succesfully found a way to adapt different bags to this unit I tried putting a bag over the connection between the bag and the housing but counldn't get the cloth bag back on. I also tried putting the H bag inside of a hepa bag and then wrapping the material around the cardboard ring but I don't think it would be effective It seems like the bags allow very little airflow to pass through them due to the ring under normal circumstances and this would only make it worse. The only thing I can think to do is use a plastic ring have that act as the bag seal and then attach something hard to that to create a pipe from there you could attach a hepa bag much like a Hoover C/Eureka F+G slide the bag over the tube and seal it with a band. |

You prompted some thoughts for me.....since those other ides, previously offered, won’t work. I’m suspecting I could just make a hepa bag that fits inside the cloth bag....securing it TO the cloth bag opening ( metal ring most likely)....therefore , avoiding having to secirento the flexible suede plastic ring on the paper bag. Think that’ll work?

Since the Prince bag is open top---Would HEPA bags really matter there? You still have to be careful when dumping and replacing the bag. |

Makes sense if you want to improve the efficiency over the paper bag.I have a supply of the paper bags somewhere.Bought a few Prince vacuums when the dealer for them near me went out of business. |

Oreck XL Ironman vacuum bags will work for Princes (granted, with Royoal came out with them for most of the production run, they appeared to just have a shakeout bag) WITH a slight trimming of the cardboard rim of the bag opening BECAUSE..... The paper bags are no longer produced. Upon further discovery, EnviroCare makes them as well as Crucial sold on Amazon though only genuine Oreck bags claim 'hypo allergenic'. At least we know that all of these can be used for Royal Prince 501's, but I still am going to have a go at constructing a HEPA cloth bag out of a Oreck or Kirby bag.
