Just think, this time next week, we'll all be together, or will be en route. It's be wonderful to reunite with old friends, and to also meet new folks. So, put in your fresh bags, light bulbs, belts, etc.. Pack your bags and get ready.
"going to Kansas City....Kansas City here we come"!

Oh yes!

We will have over 30 people attending. I have a feeling the free and for sale piles are going to be big this year. I'm bringing ten vacuums myself to put in the free pile. Another member talked about renting a van to haul his vacuums to the convention. I'm currently working on the attractions list for the convention. There will be plenty of vac shops, thrift stores and estate sales for us to shop at. I don’t think we will be short of vacuums. I know our members will find some treasures to bring home.

It will be a fun time! I’ll post pictures to our club’s website and possibly here. The convention is June 27th to June 30th. That’s next week! It’s coming up fast!

Well, I guess because the VCCC started in the US and we currently do not have any members in Canada. We did at one time when Vacuumland and the VCCC were one. We have had members from Canada attend our conventions. I've met Brad and Dave.

Everything's up to date in Kansas City

A week away...yea!

I.m looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting new collectors too! Thanks to Chad, our club president, for organizing this. Because of the generosity of club members and VCCC supporters there will plenty of vacuums for sale, free, trading, and to play with.

I'll be driving from New Mexico, and I know Luke will be driving from Ohio. I think John L will have us both beat as he's driving from Oregon. John, are you driving from PA or taking the Golden Argosy from Rome again this year?
See everyone soon
Sean

Seeing friends again is really terrific. And every year the meets are a little different with interesting vacs, stories and a different mix of people. Always interesting with something new to learn and a few laughs to boot!

It was great to see Sean and Rick recently. We shared a whisp of a vintage vacuum event recently and I am eager to see how their new finds worked out. I’ll have a to live vicariously through them as all I have succeeded in doing is picking up a few old bags at estate sales.

Everything's Up to Date........

Well,... if  EVERYTHING'S  up to date in Kansas City, how could I miss that??   The past few Conventions have been so incredible...I'm SO looking forward to more of the same this year in Kansas City.  Many people had asked for another Mid-West Convention, so here we are!

Since flying is at an ALL TIME HIGH, I hope those flying the Friendly Skies are already booked and ready to take off, as am I.

We Canadians could definitely have a mini-meet get together here in Montreal or somewhere central. Unfortunately, my responsibilities right now prevent me from coordinating such a gathering.

But I hope to be able to one day take part in the annual American convention - it would be so nice to meet everyone finally!

Wishing all this year’s conventioneers a wonderful weekend and reunion!

Micro Meet in Palm Springs

Paul is correct, thanks to the generosity of a fellow VCCC member Rick B, Paul G and I enjoyed a Micro Meet during our visit to Palm Springs. It was the sneakiest of previews for what is awaiting us and others in Kansas City.
Have a great pre convention weekend everyone,

In a short time (maybe 2 yrs), I might be hosting the annual convention. I'm 2.5 hrs from New York City. Canada wouldn't be totally out of the question to get here. Think about.

"Streaming, LIVE from Canada....... The VCCC convention, via satellite".

I wish I could go I have been to 3 of these conventions and had an amazing time and met and made a lot of nice friends. Since I now have my own home money has been tight for me but hopefully I get to go again. My dream is that they have it in Pennsylvania. I don't have a big collection but would be proud to show off what I have and if the convention comes here I would be honored to have one of the meets or lunch ins at my little house. At least I have my best close friend John Long near by and get to enjoy his mini meets.

Arrived about an hour ago.

Trip was smooth, although a bit nerve wracking because it is my first "outing" since the accident.

But, I'm here now and settling down.

Kansas City airport is like a maze. Seems like I walked around forever before finding a way out of the terminal.

Got my rental car and arrived at the hotel.

Very nice!

Can't wait to see others.

It was wonderful. Kansas City is beautiful, flat, hot and humid, but very nice. No rain, tornadoes, etc, happened. a FEW snags: on Thurs p.m. Phillip, Shaylee and Maverick were in an accident while returning from dinner. Although the car was totaled, NO ONE WAS HURT.. thank God! You can always replace a car. Greg had a short trip to the hospital, BUT, all in all, a GREAT time.
I've returned with TONS of stuff AND ideas for the NEWSLETTER.. it'll be fab!!
There was a 'group' shot of the VCCC last night. However, in the photo, by accident, I'm sure is a non-member. although he never spoke to me, I believe his name is Evan. He must not have realized that he photo was intended to be only actual members of the club. WE can take care of that for the newsletter, though. For members who could not attend, rest assured. There were a few 'guests' of members. However, your/our dues did not cover them. They had to be responsible for their financial end.
I'm sure tons of great photos will follow very shortly.
Again, it was fantastic to reunite with our vacuum 'family' again.

Evan and I already discussed the payment details. We can make exceptions. Although, I strongly encourage attendees to register before the convention starts. So that we can have a head count.

Quite a few pictures and videos have already been posted to Facebook. I will post a few here and on our club website. It was a very fun convention and thank you to Chad Cunningham for hosting.

Another awesome Convention!

I, and everyone with whom I spoke had a wonderful and yet relaxing time.  This was nicely planned and executed with a few wonderful, unexpected add-ons like the visit to another fascinating local collector, Levi, who graciously opened his home, collection, and available sale items to many of us.   There were no negative issues whatsoever; everyone in attendance clearly enjoyed themselves and played nicely wink  It was a treat to have some guests that added/contributed to the camaraderie  (Perhaps they will join?)

Many thanks again to Chad, the Board Members, and everyone that contribute to VCCC Convention 2019!

Visiting the Truman home in Independence and a visit to the Overland Park 1950's All-Electric house were definitely a bonus I had not even contemplated.  Thank you, Ken H for arranging that!

It truly is awesome to get to the hotel and see the group slowly arriving, assembling everything. It truly is like just "picking up where we left off" last time. We did miss Rick Asquith and Michael Turner. YOU both were MISSED a lot. Chad's home and collection and luncheon were fantastic. It was great to meet new people, too.
Bill Edstrome's Kirby Clinic was nice as well. (Sorry I was unable to assist this year. I was busy with tickets and tabulating contest results. NEXT year, I'll break out brand new 'garb' and be ready to help you again.

If I may:

Though it doesn't mean anything, and I am not trying to start an argument.   I know there was much work put into the convention, but in the interest of accuracy, and as a Kansan; The Wizard of Oz was based in Kansas.  Though Kansas City, MO has the name Kansas in it.   KCMo is actually not in Kansas. Hence, poor Dorothy and Toto would once again have to state  " I don't think we are in Kansas."

Between The Wizard of Oz and In Cold Blood, Kansas doesn't have much mention in literature; we have to hold on where we can.   Well Wichita did have BTK, but a little girl in a tornado is a much better story than him.

The Wizard of OZ was supposed to be a fun theme. Originally, the Hotel was in Kansas City, KS but the club got a better deal in Kansas City, MO. Chad Cunningham the VCCC president is from Wichita, KS. We haven't had a recent convention in Kansas. Although we have been very close. In 2017 Phillip Muller and I hosted the Tulsa convention. We drove to Phillip's house in Independence, KS to see his collection.
