Hello
I do have a you tube channel and I have I think 6 subscribers.
I have crap for videos except my 561 HEPA conversion video. I just uploaded my 509 video. I picked it up at the thrift store. It has original everything except for the bag. I stopped by car wash on the way home vacuumed out d80 bag on it. I took it home put my special bag on it. I added led light WD-40 and this is what I have. It sounds brand new. It's pretty sweet video. I hope to add more. I just had issues.
Enjoy

Les,

Very cool 509! I see that this has the bag from a model 2C.

what did you use wd40 on? WD40 is not a lubricant and Kirby's haven't had oil ports since the 2c.

You know what...

That Kirby sounds like it's ready to take on the world! Nice video. I 'm watching and like I know you, I'm saying,"Les, you missed a spot over here, come back ,and here too, how could you miss..." and then I realize it's not Les, the Kirby or the carpet. I just need to wipe this screen down a little. So there's that. Really good job Les! Also congrats on your upcoming plumber certification! You're a busy man. Billy

Thanks for the update I had no idea. This is my first Kirby maybe more details would be helpful.
The back of the fan spindle with threads and small amount at bottom of armature as a 70 year old vacuum bottom spindle might be tight and so may have been threads for the fan. It wasn't lubrication just to break free as it might have a little build up.
I don't need resto advice to be blunt in kindest regards.
It's not a 2c bag it's 4c 505 bag.
It runs great and I love the sound of old vacuums. It has no bearing spin down down and brush roll with new old belt, led light it worked like a champ.
Thanks
Les

Les,

No problem. I am still happy that you actually have a older vintage Kirby now!

I used to have a 505 myself, along with a 3C and a 510. I kick myself for having taken apart the first two!

I have a lot of vintage kirbys
. A 3c 3 505s 2 508s and 5 or 6 509-510s. Ya the 3c I may sell as it has a few issues and fixing issues I'd be better to buy another one. The 505s are in near mint condition. 2 508s ones just waiting for a bag other just needs polished. It's all in time. Just not in next few months.
I kind of horde good parts for those machines.
Thanks
Les
