A friend of mine is having this weird issue with his Dyson V6 Car + Boat handheld vacuum cleaner, which he bought two years ago. He stated that it was acting screwy. Turns out the motor is constantly cutting out during use. This happened the other day.
For the record, the bin and filters were cleaned the day before this occurred, and nothing is clogging any openings in the vacuum. He made a short video of this issue, which he granted me permission to upload. What should we do? |

It's clearly an electronic problem. At least the symptom is, anyway. The computer is attempting to ramp up the motor, doesn't like what it sees (for whatever reason), turns it off, and tries again, but a maximum of seven times. That's programming at work.
Likely the controller is not receiving an input it expects, for example a speed signal from the motor, or an airflow or suction signal, etc. Speaking strictly from knowing how electronically controlled devices operate, I'd wager either a bad sensor, or bad control unit. Really no way to be sure without complete disassembly to make sure no other hidden issues. I wonder if the light blinking is blinking an error code number. Count the blinks. |

It sounds like the pre-motor filter is clogged internally. I'll have to let my friend know about that.
Someone on YouTube suggested watching this video from 1:25 onward to see how the filter should be separated and what's actually inside it. Apparently, the motor pulsing and cutting out is supposed to happen in the event of a blockage. |
