It's done, finally!

My 1979 Kirby Tradition's headlight cap lock mechanism has now been fixed!

You got the super rare lock assembly to work right. I'm impressed you found one let alone got it to work. Nice job.
BTW I got bag packaged shipping tommorow so maybe Friday you will get it.

The tradition lock assembly is it built in for safety switch. That's really cool to see tradition original.
The bag and patch will be there Friday or Saturday.
You really choose sweet vacuums to fix up.
The cr1 came with a metal fan. I'm putting amodel fan on mine.

Yes, the style of light cap my Tradition has was originally designed for the top-mounted selector switch. But it was converted to the bottom-mount style soon after.

And yes, I sure do cherish the vacuums that I have. Good luck with your 1CR Classic!

My cr-1 just needs field coil replaced. Once that's done other than polishing it needs coil taken out install new coil put bearing plate and fan on and attach outer shell.
