Geez Brian, that's the same DAM model 1148 I'm working on right now, colored like an After Eight dinner mint patty.The last patent date on mine is 1967. Wish I was close by and I'd snag it for swappable parts. Your base looks much better than mine which has the paint gouged off down both sides. Mine runs great but the Hoover Logo plate has a big dent & gash through the center and an undersized incorrect handle bolt. If you are truly gonna have to toss it I'd suggest salvaging a few small parts first. The switch & plate always comes in handy, the Logo and the handle bolt, at least. Or break it all down into parts like mine is now and stuff the works in a box - take it to the Convention. If that doesn't sound like a good plan and it's off to the trashpile, may I contact you about snail mailing me, at my cost, the Logo plate and handle bolt? Dave
