I have an observation to share concerning my Fantom Fury, and was wondering if any other Fantom owners have observed this with their machines.

The brushroll tends to collect fine dust during use. I looked at the underside of the Fury, and there was some dust on the part of the brushroll closest to the inlet. I rubbed it off by hand. In addition, when I brush the bristles off with my fingers, dust flies out of them. When the vacuum is in the upright position, the brushroll leaves a dusty spot on whatever carpet it's sitting on, which is especially noticeable on dark carpeting.

I think this most likely due to the fact that the Fantom is an underpowered vacuum. However, it does a great job of cleaning carpets. Has anyone else observed this?

BTW, the other day, I did a versus test between the Fantom and my Dyson DC07 Animal. I vacuumed the master bedroom VERY thoroughly with the Dyson, and then went over the same areas with the Fury; it picked up a fistful of dust, fluff, hair and grit that the Dyson missed. The results are in the last pic.

All plastic parts... static electricity probably?

Yep, normal. 🙂 As MadMan said, static electricity will draw particles to the ABS. The piano black finish really shows dust, hair, and even fingerprints.

As for dust in the bristles: also nothing to worry about. Actually, most vacuums will do this. It’s more dependent on the density of bristles than the performance of the vac. Denser bristles trap more dust. Just about all of of my vacs’ rollers will let out the “smoke”, even the high-performing ones—GSix, 1020Z, S661, UP13, UP14, etc. And, of course, the Fantoms. 👍

It must be static, I noticed this on some of my bagless vacs too. Somehow it ends up halfway up the bin and all over the hose too. It gets annoying when you have to vacuum your vacuum when done vacuuming!

I'm not so sure static would cause dust to accumulate on the brushroll since the fantoms all had wood brushrolls (correct me if I'm wrong).

I find a lot of vacuums do this including more powerful ones, I think its just that dust gets stuck on the surface sometimes. And same goes for the brushes.

I think the brushroll and entire bottom area of most vacuum cleaners get dusty with use, but the black color of the Fantom seems to just show it better than other colors would.
