We ran into this issue many times. More often than not the problem was that dirt had gotten into the mechanism that triggers the light. It's located on the neck of the machine it's clear and has an almost D shape to it you'll need to carefully take that apart and clean out the dirt.
It's basically a circuit, when the vacuum clogs up pressure causes the plunger to be pulled inwards which separates a metallic plate from two contacts. this lack of continuity is what triggers the light, but built up dirt can prevent contact too. |

I hate it when monkeys "repair" things with no care at all to fixing it properly and just set about breaking it in the process of repairing it with random bits and bobs from the hardware store. It takes so much work to fix it back to what it was.
Electrical contact cleaner sprayed on the dirt sensor will fix the bag full light, seems a similar issue to Hoover Windtunnels with the TOL trim level dirt sensor lights. |

Is the sensor in the clean side or the dirty side of the neck? I tried to clean the boards up as much as possible. You can see the broken screws in the first picture with the top off. |

To access it you need to remove the neck assembly, and the black plastic covers that are around it.
In order to get a better idea of where it is located this black tube leads to it. it's used to adjust the sensitivity. you'd insert a small flat heat and turn the plunger to increase or lower the sensitivity of it. They do make a cap to get the proper setting but if you lack such a tool I think you're supposed to cover about 3/4 of the hose and adjust till the light comes on. |
