The how to is easy, cut the material to shape/size.  The real question is where can I find large sheets of vacuum cleaner grade foam filter material?  I'd like to cut some for my Electrolux XXX and maybe a couple other vacuums.

Thanks!

I've had good luck with fish tank foam filter sheets. You can get them in a variety of sizes and densities. Higher ppi (pores per inch) filters are more fine. Frequently, the filters are advertised as "chemical free" and, of course, they are washable.

Another option is cutting them from a Kirby (or similar) synthetic HEPA bag. I mention Kirby because they have a lot of area to cut from. With this trick, you get a really thin but efficient filter. You just have to make sure the layers don't come apart.

Good luck!
