Only about a year after the v10, the v11 is now out. I guess dyson is going for an annual release schedule. Looks like a marginal upgrade to the v10. I knew something was up when v10's started going on sale the last few months.

185 AW!

185 airwatts is really quite extraordinary on a cordless, although obviously the battery life on Max is atrocious -- for context, Light Ball in the UK has 90 airwatts, all Small Ball's have 150 airwatts. Although, U.S. Ball Animal 2 is still topping the charts with 270.

We're going to see a new version of a Dyson stick vac for every year they're in business. Though the still seem to follow a common trend with Dyson. They're going to add LCD screens to everything because they run out of ideas and still want to keep manufacturing on the cheap.

Dyaon was showcasing their LCD screens on their air purifiers at the VDTA. I've got a video on this but it needs intense editing. After I shot it with a nice Dyson employee they found me later at the show and asked me not to show any Dyson employees. so until then here's a great video that Rodger in the UK did showing the same product I'm talking about.

Just like iPhones - they have to make one every year because millenials cannot fathom owning something older than 6 months, or all their friends will hate them and they will be so uncool. Can't have that!

I'll stick with my bootleg clones that cost under $70 when I want a "Dyson" (and are corded). Or just assemble an older V-series model from buying individual parts one at a time.

V11

Yearly updates are nothing new - Kirby was doing it in the 40s and 50s, Hoover did it with the Convertible line...

An interesting note about the V11- it looks like the separate hard floor head is no more.

@broomvac The V8/V7 HEPA makes more sense. Lacks a good floor tools lacks battery life ,lack of Ben capacity. Honestly I think they cordless Henry is the best cordless vacuum out there. This is just popular with Instagram kids.

Not to mention I can't use the extra power on my carpet without the vacuum shutting off.

I got a surprising amount of comments saying I broke that head on purpose too!

I have a few ideas of what might have caused the bit to break, the whole head does vibrate ALOT. It does this to 'agitate' the carpet etc, which works fine on carpet but mine see's alot of hard floor use because otherwise I'm swapping flipping heads every 4 seconds.

I have also done some silly vs tests with other vacuums, for fun of course and I'm wondering if it just could not handle the amount of dirt (the vacuum hates it in general to be honest, I have 2 filmed and I will do a few more and pop them out on a weekly basis but then stop because the whole machine needs a thumping good clean out and blow through once done)

Daily though it is very good. Not £600 good, I have a niggles video coming, which is mainly with the small tools) but for daily pushing half-heartedly around the carpet it is very good, I do sometimes have to stop myself just going for it and use another machine (Electrolux 4x4 this month, which I've already had to use to clean the V11 out). Honestly for my house you could have it as the only vacuum, which is always funny explaining it to non vacuum people because they don't get it... Yes I could but I like other vacuums as well so no I won't get rid of them all)

I'm in it for the long term. I've never had anything new and shiny before, usually waiting until their dirt cheap used as you know) so as youtube ad revenue is paying for it, I treated myself! We will all see how long it really lasts, will I have it in 10 years still happily working? OR will it die in 2 years 4 months... (which is what my money is on...)

The othe big issue I have now is the V10 has plummeted in price. And I've used Mr HooverLux's V10 since having the V11 and honestly, apart from forgetting where the power adjuster is on the V10 I could not tell the difference... So my recommendation now is to get a v10! Yes the V11 is VERY good as a general vacuum, but all you get extra is a low resolution screen, the auto mode on the torque head (which still works in boost which is annoying as if I want boost I want boost damnit, even on hard floors) and it's heavier...

I don't regret it though, my youtube views have rocketed which was always half the plan. Need to carry on creating content really, anyone got any suggestions?

Let's remember that the air watts is the most misleading measurement ever.
It's just a marketing thing.
You need to know the suction and airflow figures.

In the 90's didn't a lot of vacuum makers use horsepower as a measurement of power for vacuums? That was also a load of rubbish. The only vacuum maker that I can remember most using proper measurements (water lift) I think was Oreck, or Electrolux might have done it too.

I recently fixed a Dyson Cinetic Big Ball and A Dyson V6 Animal and was appalled at how poorly designed they are. So many thin and cheap plastic components and so many small and winding air paths. They definitely are going for form over function. Also, the airflow is on par with a cheapo Bissell PowerForce. Also, nice NPC meme there.

I have only had my Dyson V11 Torque Drive for a few months but I will say it's definitely powerful and has saves me time cleaning throughout the week. If necessary, I could probably do my whole house (5,000 sq. ft) on a single charge in Auto mode which would never happen with the V8. It's significantly more powerful than the Dyson V8 Absolute I have but as others have mentioned, it's also a little heavier. I like that I can see how many minutes I have left when using the machine and how it adjusts when moving from area rugs to hardwood floors. Unlike the general public I understand that it is not a replacement for a corded machine. However, it's fantastic for when I need to clean the main living areas throughout the work week. I still rely on my trusty MD central vacuum and hide a hose for more thorough, weekly cleaning. If I were strapped for cash, it wouldn't be my first choice but it's one of those appliances that's a "nice to have" and by no means a necessity.

@Ocscott3085 I have a similar square footage. There's no way I could even do half my house with that thing. The most I got was 16 minutes runtime on the high setting.
I found Auto and eco to be too underpowered to pick most debris up on one pass.
I've been meaning to test a( on video) V8 I really don't think there's a significant power difference between that and the current v11
