I was browsing the free section of Craigslist as you do when I came across what looks to be a Hoover Constellation, however the logo seems odd and I have never seen this color combo. Could anyone help me to sort this out and figure out what this vacuum truly is? Any help would be much appreciated.

Indeed a Hoover Constellation, however that “P” means it was rebadged for JCPenney under their house brand Penncrest! While mine isn’t angled like that one, I too have a Penncrest badged Connie. For the price, if you’re close enough to grab it, go for it! They’re cool little vacuums, and can certainly make a good conversation starter!

Yeah, that stylized 'P' logo is a little obscure to modern eyes as JCPenney hasn't used it since maybe the early '70s. Back then, the store chain was known as Penney's and was a direct competitor of Sears. After the re-branding, they also gradually dropped most of their hard lines to focus on clothing and housewares.

penncrest connie

thats a model A108 penncrest connie made in 1965 only. they made 25,000 of them, and was tilted at the request of jcpenney, and the first connie to have the molded tool rack on the rear of the machine. the colors are unique to penneys as is every machine hoover made for them. the " funky p" as its known in the vintage retail world, lasted from 1964 until early 1972. tho was "officially" retired in 1971.

hoover didn't use it until the 858 in 1972 i believe, and made only 2 or 3 "tilted" versions, in spite of having the design since 1965.

Yep, that's a Penncrest Connie. I have one just like it. I heard Will and myself are the only collectors known to have the tilted Penncrest one.

I'd get it for sure if I were you.
