I just bought this old Kirby 560 that appears to be in very good original condition, including the original power cord. It was owned since new by a little old lady who died recently.

Note the faded bag design with the Kirby logo and vertical stripes off the logo. I thought this design was from earlier Kirbys, like the 519. I've only seen grey 560 and 561 bags with the Kirby logo, but no stripes outside the logo.

Given how original this machine is, I find it hard to believe that the owner replaced the logo bag with the older style that has additional stripes. That doesn't make sense to me. It seems more likely that this bag is actually the original one sold with this machine.

Am I right about this? I'll need to replace the bag and Kirby Mike makes some very nice reproductions in both logo versions. So, which one is correct for my machine?

See photos below for the original 560 & 561 bag. The last bag to have the long, pointed lines with the new-style logo as in your photos was the 514, except that the bag was plain gray with no silver speckling.

I've seen aftermarket replacement bags of this design with both plain and speckled bags.

Wow, I was correct with my 513's bag we spoke about.... Being the same on your 560...If what electrolux137 is correct, constructing a new one will be easier than that older design.

ive had both bags seen above. I am not sure if the 560 shared the bag with the 561 but im pretty sure it did. Im pretty sure the 519 bag was not shared with the 560 i believe they did a few design changes and the 560 was first model with changes as the bag would be new.
Just a weird side note all bags up to 561 were top fill bags meaning the top of the bag opened up and empty the bag. The 562 the first sanatronic was first year of the shakeout bag. The 562 also had the zipper with the pocket so you could scrape out bag without touching the dust.
The sanatronic bag ran through heritage orange bag. The bag with the zipper for some reason i want to say started on 3cb or tradition. I believe i have seen classic 3 with a zipper and a bag assembly which if so Kirby would have sold after the model run. The tradition was the first Kirby to have zip open bag with bag Assembly.
the 562-tradition had plastic topper with a bag hanger inside. The heritage models had a bag topper that clamped on the bag and hooked onto the handle. The g3 started bags with the hanger being a plastic push button device similar to safety belt.
The bag collars i believe started with the 562 bags but i have seen a few bag collars that look like a mid 515 red color. The bag collars ended with legend 2. 505-d80 had square em tor. The classic tradition and some heritage had circular em tor for shakeout bags. The tradition and some heritage had circular em tor with fill tube. The heritage or heritage 2 have first solid one piece plastic mini em tor. The g3 started a new em tor style as exhaust went from blowing parallel to vertical position. The em tor is put on with ratcheting motion. The same bag setup through mid sentria had same setup. The fill tube g3-early sentria took micron magic bags. The newer em tor used through current models has different fill tube and topper. You can put topper on heritage thru sentria models. I dont think they make one for the tradition as the fill tube is 1.25". The new ones are(guessing) 2 5/8 or 2 1/2. I believe 2 5/8 and the legend were 2 1/2.
THe 505-513 maybe 515 had smaller cotter pin and handle for portable or canister mode. The post 515 through legend 2 had same handle portable handle. On the bigger 16 inch nozzle i still think you can interchange but 16 inch models handle use handle that came with vacuum. The fit is awful. The pistil grip portable handle is used g3 through current model. I know avalir on its handle fork it has a handle but the portable mode handle is the same.
Electroluxxx that bag you have is in pristine shape.

What's the diameter of that original logo?

Charles, thanks for posting those pics of your original bag. Do you know the exact outside diameter of the Kirby logo on your bag? I may just make my own at this point.

Good luck getting grey curdouroy that is grey and sparkles. You won't find one.
This is the 560 bag original. I have it tucked away. I'm guessing 3-4 inch diameter on logo. The bag also has a red ribbon on the shakeout top fold. I did wash my bag in a washing machine. It held up.
