It never hurts to ask!...
I was looking on eBay (and have been for a while) for the cirrus cr99. For several years I have wanted a Panasonic performance plus platinum with the triforce motor in it (they made it in 3 colors and only sold them at certain Panasonic dealers in periwinkle blue, seafoam green, and silver). The cirrus vacuums have been the closest thing I've ever seen to it. The cr99 has the variable suction control that I wanted as well!

For 479$.. that's a bit more than I want to spend for a collector vacuum that isn't really a "name brand". Well, a vacuum store must be selling their cirrus brand off because they has a cr79 demo model for 199 plus shipping. I figured it wouldn't hurt to message the seller to see if they had the cr99 as well at their shop. SURE AS SHIT THEY DID! AND NEW IN THE BOX. 225$ AND SHIPPING. I told the guy to list it and I'd buy. It was a done deal in less than 5 minutes. So excited!!

Cool!!!!!!!

I know what you mean......I kind of wanted the 99 but now that I've had the 79, it suits me perfectly...but if I found one for that price I would have snapped it INSTANTLY, especially after having used the 79 for a few months now.

Unlike you, mine is used daily it's not a collector vac. I can't say enough good things about it I love it and with the 12-foot hose attached I can clean everywhere. I went 3.5 months before changing the bag. Finally changed it the other day and not a speck of dust in the bag chamber area...

Before this vacuum, I used a shark bagless as my daily driver. Maybe going from the Shark to this makes this vacuum seem so awesome, I dunno. But not having to clean the bin every 3 days and suck the filters clean on the shark..... It's like going from a clunker to a Cadillac.

The manual is kind of lacking though - I feel like there could be a wee bit more info in there than there is.

I'm so excited!! I think a lot of YouTubers have known that I've wanted this for a while now lol. I have a STRONG feeling that this will be my daily driver, and my royal! I will definitely be getting the extension kit!

I bet you will too

I mean, HEPA bags, HEPA filters, Belts, brush strips, are all inexpensive too.

I don't like the port that opens on the back to use my attachment hose. I don't know what the point of it is because it doesn't cut off all the airflow, so with the extension hose plugged into the port, you don't get much airflow. What I end up doing is I just pull the quick draw wand out, and plug in my extension hose to that. I have an adapter that makes it fit and the suction/airflow is 100 times better. The adapter came with an air driven turbo tool I bought a while back. I just leave it in the end of the accessory hose all the time.

If only one thing I could change would be bag changing. I wish there was an idiot proof way to change the bag. But it's those that have to PUSH all the way back and hope it's on there good, instead of one that slides on and locks in. Probably just me being OCD but I always feel like, did I get it on all the way? Or in the process of putting it on did I damage the bag collar?

My only concern would be that the replacement parts may no be available a few years down the road. I know though that the parts for this machine are very similar to tacony parts also. But it has the HEPa filter on the sides, so I should probably stock up on those. I believe I'm getting a free pack of 6 bags also. Maybe some belts? The item description when the seller posted it said they are no longer carrying the cirrus brand. I'm going to assume that's it's just because the brand is unsuccessful at their shop? Especially for the 500$ price tag.

This cr99 has the bag switch so it can't run unless it's placed correctly on the vacuum. I like this feature just because if the bag came off when running, it would immediately shut down. I'm not aware of any uprights with this feature. But I'm also very OCD with the bag being properly placed on my Kenmore elite. But that is because the bag dock has a special design that you can't close the bag door without the bag being placed properly. I am looking for the extension kit, but don't know if now is a good time to order it haha.

From what I understand

mark40511's profile picture
the reason a lot of vacuum shops don't sell them is that they make very little profit on them. I'm not sure how long Cirrus has been around. I would think Essco will continue to make parts for them.

I do not understand what you mean by bag switch? On mine, the vacuum won't run if the bag door isn't on properly.

But you will notice the BAGS last a LONG time (at least they do for me) - And there was very little loss of suction. I would occasionally suck up a little activated charcoal and no stale bag smells.

Thank you! I'm planning to do an unboxing since there are not reviews of the machine on YouTube except from govacuum, which was a sales pitch review.

Also @mark40511 i was told by another collector that the cr99 has a special switch that wouldn't allow the machine to run of the bag was not on the bag inlet properly. But it's possible that they didn't realize the cr79 has it too.

The...

CR99 has a little "arm" so to speak that gets pressed in as the bag is pushed on. Once the bag is on and the arm is fully depressed it activates a microswitch that allows the machine to turn on. If it isn't actuated the machine will simply illuminate the "Check Bag" light when the power switch is turned on. The CR79 doesn't have that feature.

What he said lol.

Also, Mr. Lightning, what is the attachment kit that you have for your machine? I was going to support this vacuum store that is selling the machine to me by buying the kit on their website. But it's a 6ft kit, which is not worth it to me for 40$. I'd prefer a longer hose to use.
