EEEWW! Unfortunately, I see this all the time at the Aerus dealership where I help out. Usually, this occurs because the customer has been vacuuming damp carpeting, but sometimes it's dog fur and dander that clumps together due to the oils in the dog's fur. Usually, an S.O.S pad, some dish soap, a toothbrush, and a bit of time is all it takes to get these nozzles looking brand new.

Yeah a bit of time and elbow grease, you know, you need grease to remove grease, said my grandfather! |

That will cleanup nicely. FYI, LED is a nice upgrade to a PN.

I got a Rainbow SE that had a power nozzle with even more crud caked on it. THAT happens when people are vacuuming wet/damp messes with it. It could have been used to vac up after shampooing carpets (by someone very impatient) |
