DOes somebody know that attachment? I got it in a box with others , mostly to fit on Electrolux, but that one is very different.

Is it deisgned for carpets? How does that vibrate, there doesn't seem to have any electric connection?

I found out that it vibrates just by air passage, but it is obviously not designed to be fit on an Elux hose, it goes too deep in the brush and it stops vibrating.

So it needs a special hose, anybody here have that hose and would be interested in having that brush for the cost of shipping from Quebec, Canada?

I found out some information. This goes to a 1950's Eureka vacuum.
--------------------
" A similar attachment sold by Eureka in the late 1950's, the Vibra-Beat. It is believed to be nearly identical to the Electrolux design, though made with a plastic housing.

Inside the nozzle was a piston attached to a "foot" that was pressed down by a spring. It is not known to me if this nozzle even made it into production, but if it was it would be a real treat for any collector.

The suction of the vacuum cleaner would lift the piston up to a point until it cleared a valve that released pressure. The spring inside pushed the piston back down, beating the carpet. The whole process repeated at a high rate of speed and must have made quite a clamor!

Turbo Tools have not been very useful for actual cleaning because these tools get their power from the airflow through the cleaner. If the dust bag is full of dirt, then the airflow is reduced to a level too low for the tool to be useful."

I believe the Vibra beat nozzle was specific to Eureka vacuums. My Eureka Empress has the same nozzle. It is very, very loud and really does not work very well. The air causes the 3 rubber strips to vibrate but there is no room for debris to be sucked in. In theory a unique concept but it has no practical use.

I do confirm that it's LOUD, and that there isn't much space to let debris go between the strips.

It is useless for me, that's why I offered it to the group.

You all are looking at a piece of Eureka vacuum history! The Vibra Beat was a waste of money and one of the most in-effective vacuum tools ever made! To many, the noise equaled power! Fun to use.
Search the archives: there's lots about it! Hook it up to a central system and you'll die...of overkill suck to the rug and more!

And it was made

From 1958 up into the late 70s or early 80s,

Or as Consumer Reports said about the nozzle in one of their vacuum reviews: “much ado about nothing”....

The first Empress canister had a modified version with a second suction channel separated from the beating tubes, but I don’t think it was a big improvement.

Francois.... in Canada, Eaton’s sold many vacuums that were labelled “Eaton Viking” but were made by Eureka in Kitchener, Ontario. Eaton’s had many Viking cleaners which were sold with that Vibra-Beat nozzle. I think La Baie also had Eureka Vibra-Beat canister vacuums labelled as “Baycrest”.

Thanks Brian and others, i'm always amazed by the amount of knowledge on this forum.

My interest for vacuum cleaners is quite recent and I have mostly focused on Elux, so I feel like I have a lot to learn.
