First , I have to confess that I know nothing about this machine. I suppose it is a carpet cleaner because there is a reservoir for water, but that's about it.

I got it for free at the ecocenter. I don't have a lot of carpet in my house, but it could be useful to clean my carpet in the basement, if I can make it to work properly and if I find the missing brushes.

Does this B28 model have a good reputation? Is is easy to find spare parts ?

Thanks in advance

First of all bring that Electrolux B28 polisher shampooer inside not in the snow ...
Second you have to buy 3 carpet brush , 3 green buffing pad , 3 lamb wool pads, to polish the wax and 3 scrubbing brush one of if not The Best polisher made.

Thanks for that quick answer, Antoine. Don't worry I will take care of that baby soon !

I took it in the front yard to plug it in my outdoor extension for the car, just to see if that thing works at all or not.

The motor turns evenly, but there is only one of three pignons turning down there, the strap might be broken. I'd have to open it to make sure. Anything tricky I should be aware of ?

Good news,Bad news

In general the 3 brush Elux shampoo/polishers are the best. When I was with Electrolux of US we got the 2100 style vac and this type shampooer from Elux of Canada in the mid 80s.They were sandstone/jadestone colors. The The 2100 became a very nice vac with lighter plastic case and after filter, later called LE and later names and colors. The Canadian shampooer never replaced the larger B-9 type machines and had some problems at that time including--
-Cordwinder contact rings could come loose & would not run.
-Tank could be difficult to insert/remove.
-Stem of brushes could wear and not lock in place.
-And perhaps worse, there is no belt or 'strap' as the 3 brush holders are turned by a center motor shaft that would wear the plastic edges of gears and is probably why'1 of 3'turns.(Similar to some 2 brush Hoover machines.)
Others north of the border will know more of this model as well as earlier and later ones.
Hope this might work out for you but I have 'been there, done that'.

Hum, I think you're right with the plastic gear instead of a belt, that would explain the grinding noise I heard when it began to run and when it slowed down...

I didn't have great expectations when I picked it up, I thought "Well, at least the cord looks good, I could use it to fix a vac".

If that one I got for free isn't good at all, here what looks like a good option.

Is it a B26?

Do it suffer from the same flaws already mentioned for the B28?

I opened the bottom of my B28 and found big damages on gears.

I'm not gonna spend any more time on this machine.

I had the same thing happen to the gears on mine but not to the same extent as yours. Instead of trying to fix it I bought a newer model Floor Pro for $20 that I found on Kijiji.
