You know, one of the perks of collecting vacuum cleaners is that we never have to worry about getting bored with the machine we use to clean with! For example, I’m doing some cleaning today, and while my trusty Olympia One is patiently sitting in the corner waiting to be used, I wanted to change it up a little today. So, I went down to my shop in the basement and started looking through my vacuums. Decisions, decisions.....maybe the Renaissance today, or the Model G, or perhaps I’ll pull out the Commemorative and use it. No.....my eyes came to rest on a vacuum I have NEVER used! I bought this vac five or six years from shopgoodwill.com for $5 or $6. I cleaned it up and tested the motor at the time, then put it up and truthfully forgot about it. So today, I decided to put it through it’s paces.....don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of apprehension about using a 60+ year old vacuum that I’ve not used before, but I’m happy to say it performed beautifully! The motor has a pleasant soft sound, and is very powerful, and the woven hose is still airtight, which really surprised me! Anyway, here’s my Compact C2 flat top.....

A lot of these cleaners were decades ahead of their time in design, and it seems the most innovative ones flopped and were forgotten. You'd be amazed how capable 30-90 year old vacuums still are today in the home.

I just learned how to use the Electrolux G-series upholstery brush properly without tearing the furniture apart, and I was amazed at how well it worked!

My Air-Way vac is probably half as light as even an Oreck and the fact you can hold the entire vacuum up with one arm and use its handle as a suction hose to get the cobwebs off the ceiling just dumbfounds me that we had that kind of thinking in the 20th century as far as vacuum cleaner technology went.

I wish my Compact C4 looked that good, but used it a lot as a kid
